Important Note for Existing Worlds updating to ABV 1.4.1:

  • Removed 2032 World Height
    • This is significant, please read. Do not update an already-created world to this version. You will corrupt your chunk height data. If you do, and want to save the world - there is a way to overcome this, but it is slightly laborious. Follow this guide. This is a band-aide I had to rip off at some point to further stabilize and futureproof my server.

Summary

  • The surprisingly vanilla-friendly modpack! ABV heavily enhances the vanilla experience by making exploration more exciting, and challenging. Bold new landscapes, many QoL improvements, and devious mob tweaks will make even veteran players feel engaged. This was originally built for a private server with my friends, but you are welcome to use it too!

    • Note: Pregeneration of chunks with Chunky, and LODs with Distant Horizons, is heavily recommended. Chunky generation should be fully finished before adding DH and generating LODs.

Highlights

Increased Difficulty

  • The deeper you go, the more challenging the mobs will be. Be careful - a more powerful, upgraded version of most mobs can spawn as well, regardless of depth. Additionally, new mob variants will surprise you and keep you on your feet.

Adventure and Feel

  • Discover Waytones scattered though the world atop ancient towers, activate these to warp to other towers.
  • Hundreds and hundreds of new structures to find.
  • Nearly every vanilla structure is redone.
  • Stash items in your backpack! Pickup most entities - chests, furnaces and yes, even that stubborn villager.
  • Fluid camera movements both in 1st and 3rd person. True Elytra control in all 3 axis of flight.

Collectables, Collectables, Collectables!

  • Hundreds of wearable vanity hats - can you acquire them all? Heads will roll: all hostile mobs, and adult tamable mobs have a small chance to drop their heads when killed by a player! Players themselves have a small chance to lose their head at any death.

Waystones + Towers of the Wild Modded

  • Discover towers scattered across your world. If you manage to climb one, you'll find a Waystone waiting silently at the top. Use these to warp to other discoerved Waytstones!

Distant Horizons

  • Unlimited view distance. Completely change your awareness and appreciation for the world around you by looking out as far as the eye can see without impacting performance, thanks to LoDs.

Terralith + Tectonic

  • Completely overhauls the vanilla biomes and world generation. With over 70+ new biomes, you will brave new places such as the Frostfire caves, conquer the colossal Yellowstone Mountains, or even discover a volcanic crater.

BetterNether + Amplified Nether

  • The Nether is bigger, badder, and altogether more imposing! Discover new biomes, with flora and fauna to fill them! The Nether now stands tall and has much greater verticality with 3D biome generation.

Nullscape

  • The End retains it's respected feel of solitude that the community has come to appreciate, but with the addition of new biomes and terrain generation made of vanilla blocks to make the biome feel truly aw-inspiring.

Exposure

  • Capture the beauty (or terror) of the momment with a craftable, and modifiable camera. With selfie stick and camera stand in-hand, head home to develop your film. Hang those pictures up and show off your composition!

Looking To Save FPS?

  • While these changes are big, they have high preformance costs, consider disabling one, such as Fresh Animations
    • Pregenerate chunks with Chunky, and LODs with Distant Horizons (both are hugely benefitial)
    • Turn off All FA (Fresh Animations) Resource packs (If adding them back, be sure the core mod, Fresh Animations is on the bottom)
    • Reduce render distance (5 still works great with Distant Horizons)
    • Turn off Distant Horizons Rendering
    • Turn down shader settings, or disable shader entirely
