Smooth Vanilla HD does not try to turn Minecraft into a different game. It keeps vanilla's familiar colors, shapes, and charm, then refines blocks and major mobs into clean 256x textures that hold up beautifully at close range.

From a distance it still feels unmistakably like Minecraft. Up close—and especially with shaders—you can finally see the softer edges, layered color, and added depth.

Version 1.1 cuts the recommended Core download from 213 MB to 83 MB: about 61% smaller, with no visual loss in the textures that remain.

How it is made

The textures are produced locally from Minecraft's original artwork with edge-aware processing that preserves color relationships and recognizable forms. Generative AI is not used to create the texture artwork, screenshots, or public icon.
