The Minecart Speed Plugin for Minecraft

FastMineCartsCombined is a lightweight and highly configurable Minecraft minecart speed plugin for Paper and Spigot.

Take control of your minecart network and configure different minecart speeds per block type. Build normal transportation lines, high-speed railways, dedicated express routes, or simply make certain parts of your railway faster or slower.

FastMineCartsCombined gives you two different movement modes, allowing you to choose between Minecraft's native Minecart Improvements system and the original FastMineCarts movement system.

⚡ Minecart Speed

FastMineCartsCombined allows you to define a speed for individual block types underneath the rail.

For example:

blocks:
  GOLD_BLOCK: 180.0
  IRON_BLOCK: 40.0
  OAK_PLANKS: 20.0

Speed values are configured in blocks per second.

Examples:

• 8.0 = 8 blocks/second
• 20.0 = 20 blocks/second
• 40.0 = 40 blocks/second
• 100.0 = 100 blocks/second
• 1000.0 = 1000 blocks/second

This makes it possible to create different types of minecart tracks using the block underneath the rail.

For example:

Gold Block → Express Railway Iron Block → Fast Railway Oak Planks → Standard Railway

If a block does not have a specific speed configured, the configured default-speed is used.

🧪 Two Minecart Movement Modes

FastMineCartsCombined includes two separate movement modes.

Minecart Improvements Mode

With:

minecarts_improvements: true

FastMineCartsCombined uses Minecraft's native Minecart Improvements movement system.

The plugin controls the configured maximum minecart speed while Minecraft remains responsible for the actual minecart physics, including:

• acceleration
• deceleration
• rail movement
• cornering
• minecart physics

This mode is also suitable for different types of minecarts, including chest minecarts and hopper minecarts.

The Minecraft Minecart Improvements feature must be enabled for the world when using this mode.

🚄 Normal Mode

With:

minecarts_improvements: false

FastMineCartsCombined uses its original minecart movement system.

This mode gives the plugin more direct control over minecart movement and speed.

The configured speed is determined by the block underneath the rail.

Normal Mode also includes specific handling for minecart cornering to reduce the speed when entering curves.

The maximum speed in Normal Mode is configurable through:

legacy-max-speed: 30.0
legacy-corner-max-speed: 20.0

This allows you to configure a fast railway while still keeping corners under control.

🖥️ In-Game Minecart Speed GUI

You don't have to edit the configuration file every time you want to change a minecart speed.

Use:

/mcspeed

to open the Minecart Block Speeds GUI.

From the GUI you can:

• select a block
• add a block to the configuration
• increase its minecart speed
• decrease its minecart speed
• configure your railway directly in-game

Changes are saved automatically to config.yml.

This makes FastMineCartsCombined easy to configure even on servers where you don't want to manually edit configuration files.

📦 Installation

1. Download the latest FastMineCartsCombined .jar.
2. Place it in your server's plugins folder.
3. Start your server.
4. Configure config.yml.

⚙️ Block-Based Speed Configuration

Different speeds can be configured for different blocks underneath the rail.

Example:

🖥️ In-Game Configuration GUI

Use /mcspeed to open the minecart speed configuration GUI.

The GUI allows you to select blocks and adjust their configured speed.

• Left click: increase speed
• Right click: decrease speed

Changes are saved automatically to config.yml.

🔄 Configuration Reload

After manually changing config.yml, use /fmcreload to reload the configuration without restarting the server.
