Special Abilities

Hold the tool, put the matching item in your off hand, then sneak and right click. The effect lasts three minutes, and the tool then needs five minutes before it works again.

Totem of Emeralds. Held in either hand, it saves you from death like a Totem of Undying, but it is not used up: it has three charges. Each save brings you back with Absorption III, Resistance II, Regeneration V and Strength IV. After the last charge it turns into a Broken Totem of Emeralds, which hurts when you use it. Repair it at the Totem Repair Table (mod), or by crafting it with a Stacked Emerald Block (plugin and data pack).

Emerald tools in hand and worn emerald armor give off totem particles.

Which file do I need?

A Paper, Folia or Spigot server	The plugin jar, plus the resource pack for the textures
Plain vanilla or a Realm	The data pack, plus the resource pack

The plugin and the data pack build every item from vanilla items, so they need no mod on the client. Without a block entity there is no Totem Repair Table there: the broken totem is repaired by crafting it together with a Stacked Emerald Block. In the data pack the tool abilities start when you begin to sneak, since a data pack cannot see a right click into the air.
