💬 AuricChat - Every Chat Feature Your Server Needs

AuricChat is a lightweight, fully bilingual, and completely standalone chat plugin for your Minecraft server. Take full control of formatting, moderation, private messages, ranks and more — all from a single, thoroughly documented config file, with zero mandatory dependencies.

📦 Installation

1. Place AuricChat.jar into your server's plugins folder.
2. Start or restart your server.
3. Configure AuricChat from the files generated in plugins/AuricChat/.

🔄 Updating

• For minor updates (for example, 1.1.0 → 1.1.1), simply replace the existing .jar file with the new version and restart your server.
• For major updates (for example, 1.1.0 → 1.2.0), back up your current configuration and important plugin data, replace the .jar file, delete the old plugins/AuricChat/ folder, and restart the server so the new files can be generated.
• After the update, restore or reapply your previous configuration and review any new configuration options before continuing.

✨ Key Features

• Dual Placeholder Support: Every token works both as a PlaceholderAPI %auricchat_x% placeholder and a native MiniPlaceholders <auricchat_x> tag — pick whichever your setup already relies on.
• Ranks Without LuckPerms: Three interchangeable modes in ranks.yml — pull straight from LuckPerms, match its groups to your own list, or skip LuckPerms entirely using plain permissions.
• Safe MiniMessage Formatting: Full gradient, hover and click-action support in your chat format, with layered permissions so players only get the formatting power you actually grant them.

• Packet Chat Bubbles: An experimental floating text bubble above the sender's head. Uses packetevents for a client-side-only render with virtually no server overhead when installed, and falls back to a lightweight real entity automatically when it isn't. !Speech Bubble
• Full Moderation Toolkit: Message cooldown, chat slow mode, duplicate-message filtering, anti-caps, anti-swear censorship and a full chat mute — every one independently toggleable. None of them punish the player, they only control what reaches other people.
• Nicknames: Length and uniqueness enforced by default, with an optional permission to unlock full MiniMessage styling for trusted ranks.
• Private Messages & Social Spy: /msg, /reply, /ignore, and a /socialspy toggle so staff can review private conversations — console included.
• Broadcasts: Multi-line announcements via tab completion, automatic centering, an optional border, and a rotating auto-broadcast on a timer.
• Custom Event Messages: Replace vanilla join, quit, death and advancement broadcasts with your own — death messages resolve a real {attacker}/{victim} from the actual damage source, not from parsing vanilla text.
• Fully Bilingual: Every single player-facing message ships in English and Spanish out of the box — switch with one line in config.yml, or add your own language file.

Every command below also works as /auricchat <name> <args>.

• /auricchat reload - Reloads the config, languages and ranks live. (auricchat.command.reload)
• /auricchat preview [rank] [message] - Preview your own chat format, or any rank's. (auricchat.command.preview)
• /msg <player> <message> - Sends a private message. (auricchat.command.msg)
• /reply <message> - Replies to the last private message. (auricchat.command.reply)
• /ignore <player> - Ignores or stops ignoring a player. (auricchat.command.ignore)
• /socialspy - Toggles viewing other players' private messages. (auricchat.command.socialspy)
• /nick <nickname|off> - Sets or removes your chat nickname. (auricchat.command.nick)
• /broadcast <message> - Sends a server-wide announcement. (auricchat.command.broadcast)
• /chatslow <seconds|off> - Toggles chat slow mode. (auricchat.command.chatslow)
• /chatmute <duration|off> - Mutes or unmutes the entire chat. (auricchat.command.chatmute)
• /clearchat - Clears the visible chat for everyone. (auricchat.command.clearchat)

👑 Permissions

The auricchat.admin node grants every staff command at once — reload, preview, msg, reply, ignore, socialspy, nick, broadcast, chatslow, chatmute and clearchat. Chat formatting is opt-in and granted separately.

• auricchat.admin - Grants every staff command listed above, plus update notifications
• auricchat.command.msg / .reply / .ignore / .nick - Granted to everyone by default
• auricchat.command.reload / .preview / .socialspy / .broadcast / .chatslow / .chatmute / .clearchat - Staff commands, op by default
• auricchat.command.nick.custom - Allows MiniMessage styling inside the nickname itself
• auricchat.command.nick.unsafe - Bypasses the nickname length and uniqueness checks
• auricchat.chat.format / auricchat.chat.advanced - Colors, then links and click actions, inside typed chat messages
• auricchat.bypass.chatmute / .chatslow / .filters - Bypass the moderation toolkit
• auricchat.rank.<key> - Used only in ranks.yml's permissions mode, to assign a rank without LuckPerms

🔗 Placeholders

Registers as both a PlaceholderAPI expansion and a native MiniPlaceholders expansion — use whichever syntax your setup already relies on, or both at once.

• %auricchat_name% / <auricchat_name> - The player's nickname if set, otherwise their real username
• %auricchat_player% / <auricchat_player> - Always the real username, ignoring any nickname
• %auricchat_hasname% / <auricchat_hasname> - Returns true/false depending on whether a nickname is set
• %auricchat_prefix% / <auricchat_prefix> - The player's rank prefix, resolved through ranks.yml
• %auricchat_suffix% / <auricchat_suffix> - The player's rank suffix, resolved through ranks.yml
