Saro´s Fakename Port

Fakename adds a simple way to change your display name in-game.

⚠️ Note: This mod is a port of the original Fakename mod. I am not the original author. Current work is focused on making it compatible with Minecraft 1.20.1+. Port requests for newer versions are welcome. Original: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/fakename

The fake name is visible in:

• Chat
• Death messages
• Above the player's head

Names are world/server specific, meaning they do not change your name permanently.
The server must also have the mod installed for it to work.

• Fake Names 🎭

  • Set temporary names for yourself or others in a world or server.

• Color Codes & Spaces ✨

  • Supports color codes using & (e.g., &6Notch → gold).
  • White spaces allowed via / - (1.12) or quotes " " (1.15+).
  • Combine colors and spaces freely.

• Simple Commands ⚡

  • /fakename set [player] <fakename> → Sets a fake name
  • /fakename clear [player] → Clears a fake name
  • /realname <fakename> → Gets the real name of a player

• Aliases

  • /fn, /fname for setting/clearing
  • /rn, /rname for querying (1.12 only)

• Server Permissions

  • Requires OP / cheats enabled to execute commands (unless clearing your own name on 1.15+).
  • Command permissions can be customized in the server config (1.15+).

Set a Fake Name:

• 1.12:

/fakename set My/-Name/-Is/-Tschipp

Displays as: My Name Is Tschipp

• 1.15+:

/fakename set "My Name Is Tschipp"

Displays as: My Name Is Tschipp

• With color codes:

/fakename set "&6GoldenName"

Displays as: GoldenName in gold

Clear a Fake Name:

/fakename clear [player]

Get Real Name:

/realname <fakename>   (1.12)
/fakename real <fakename>   (1.15+)
