Ping Master

Your latency, at a glance - in a HUD badge you actually want to look at.

Ping Master draws a small, sharp latency badge on your HUD: signal bars, live ping, and a colour that tells you how your connection is doing before you even read the number.

Everything about it is adjustable from one in-game screen. Drag the badge wherever you want it, pick any colour off a full RGB wheel, dial the transparency in, and turn off the parts you don't need. No config files to hand-edit, no server-side installation, and not a single extra packet sent.

✨ What it does

🎯 A real number, measured safely

Ping Master reads the latency the server already reports for you - the same value the tab list shows - and never transmits anything of its own. That makes it completely passive and safe on anticheat-heavy servers.

When a proxy network hides that value (BungeeCord and some Velocity setups report 0 for everyone), Ping Master falls back to reading the ping the network prints in the tab list, so you still get a real number instead of a permanent zero.

🎨 A colour that means something

Leave it on Dynamic and the badge colours itself by connection quality:

Or switch to Custom RGB and pick any colour you like from a full HSB wheel, with a brightness slider and a live hex readout.

🖱️ Drag it anywhere

Open the customizer and the badge becomes a live, draggable object. It snaps to screen edges, shows its coordinates as you move it, and previews every setting change in real time - because the preview is the real renderer.

🎛️ Strip it down or dress it up

Toggle the background box, the border, the signal bars, and the PING label independently. Background and border transparency each cycle in 25% steps, from fully solid to completely gone. Want just a bare number in your favourite colour? You can have that.

🔍 Debug mode

Flip on Debug Mode to see exactly where the number is coming from - the raw tab-list latency, the scraped value, which source won, and keepalive freshness. Handy when a server behaves oddly.

🚀 Getting started

You need: Minecraft 1.21.11, Fabric Loader 0.17.0+, Fabric API, and Java 21+.

1. Drop Fabric API into .minecraft/mods/
2. Drop Ping Master into .minecraft/mods/
3. Launch the game — there's nothing to set up first

Move the badge	Open the customizer and drag it
Reset the position	Reset Position in the customizer

Keybinds live under the Ping Master category in Options → Controls. Settings save automatically to config/pingmaster.json.

❓ FAQ

Do I need this on the server? No. It's client-side only and works on any server, including ones that have never heard of it.

Is it safe on servers with anticheat? Yes. Ping Master is entirely passive — it reads packets the server already sends you and never sends anything back.

Why does it say 0 ms on my server? Some proxy networks report a latency of 0 for every player. If the network prints your ping in the tab list, Ping Master picks it up automatically within a few seconds. If it doesn't print it anywhere, there's genuinely no value to read - turn on Debug Mode and check the Source line.

Why does singleplayer say Singleplayer instead of a number? Because there is no network round trip to measure. Other mods will happily show you 0 ms or a tick time dressed up as ping; this one tells you the truth.

Will it work on other Minecraft versions? This build targets 1.21.11. It refuses to load on anything else rather than crashing, because the game internals it reads move between releases. A 1.21.1 build is also available - check the Versions tab.

Can I use it in my modpack / reupload it / port it? No. Ping Master is All Rights Reserved. Please link to this page instead. If you want permission for something specific, ask.

Can I stream or make videos with it? Absolutely, including monetised content. A link back is appreciated but not required.
