A Q&A to explain what this datapack does

What does the datapack do?

The datapack is designed to block the use of the entities and block entities tab in the pie chart. It does it by displaying a lot of false entities and blockentities on the pie chart that are common in bases and structures, that can't actually be reached.

Why would I use this on my server?

A lot of players have villagers and blocks like ender chests, signs, shulker boxes, ... in their base because they are deemed necessary. This creates an opening for players to use pie charts to track this data down in their render/simulation distance to pinpoint the exact location of a players base. This could harm the balance of base raiding because bases get found very quickly and players that do not know how to use the pie chart are at a major disadvantage. The pie chart can be used in the same way to track down end cities, trial chambers, ... making it feel like a type of cheat. This datapack aims to patch these specific issues.

How does it work?

The datapack summons entities and places block entities under the bedrock layer of the overworld, making the client of the player think that they are in the world. Because of these "fake" entities and block entities it will look like all common entities and block entities from bases and structures are rendered in at all times, making it impossible to see when an actual entity or block entity in their render distance.

Are there any lag concerns?

As expected will the entities have a minor impact on the games/servers preformance, but this impact has been tried to be made as minimal as possible. "Fake" entities with the purpose of disturbing the use of the entity tab have been optimized by having no ai and some other optimization nbt tags. The entities also only update location every 10 seconds because the summoning and killing of the entities were found to be a more intense task then rendering them ingame. After some testing the block entities seem to not lag the game/server much so their location is updated every 5 ticks.

Are there any exploids or precautions to prevent exploids?

Because of the need to use actual block entities it was needed to take precautions. The datapack has a detection system to track when you are at the level of bedrock (under y-level -59) and makes sure to teleport the player up to y-level -59 and make sure the player can't mine if under this y-level. This is to make sure the block entities definitely can't be broken even is they are visible somehow. The block entities are also not directly under the player making it not possible to get to them and are also so frequently updated (every 5 ticks or 4 times per second) that they are nearly impossible to remove. The entities are made invincible and also have no loottable to make sure they can not be farmed for loot. If you manage to find an exploid, make sure to report it to me on discord: "bluesparksss".
