Orevolution!
An upgrade to minecraft's mining experience!
Orevolution is a progression-focused mod that expands upon the minecraft's original material tiers, with new ores such as tin and platinum, upgrades such as Tungsten and Aethersteel, and unique tier-related effects for armorsets, tools and weapons.
WARNING, READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING!!:
6.0.0 changes a lot of stuff, so if you're planning on updating a previous world, there's a big chance you're going to lose atleast some of your stuff
Development is focused on 1.21.1. The 1.20.1 version will continue receiving bug fixes, and major content updates might be backported after the 1.21.1 release stabilizes, but neither statements are to be taken as a compromise on my end.
Main features this mod offers:
New Ores & Alloys:
Early-Game:
- Tin: The first step before obtaining iron. Tin equipment isn't that good (barely better than stone), but its tools have a chance (between 1%-30% depending on the block) to duplicate drops while mining, and it's weapons have a 45% chance to inflict Poison on hit. Tin Armorset grants immunity towards Poison and Hunger. Tin tends to generate almost as much as iron, but if you're having trouble finding it, you can always look in the mountains.
- Bronze: An alloy obtained by combining Tin and Copper. Bronze can be used to upgrade Tin into the Bronze Armorset, granting immunity towards all negative effects. Alternatively, you can combine Bronze with Leather Armor to obtain the Bronze Diving Armorset, granting 8 additional seconds of oxygen while underwater. Bronze can also be used to make a Bronze Totem, an item that can be mixed with a gem to obtain a specific buff (E.g: Diamon, which grants the totem the ability to double the duration of positive effects)
- Platinum: The bridge that fills the gap between Iron and Diamond. Platinum tools give X2 experience while mining, and its weapons inflict Purification and Weakness to Undead Mobs. Platinum armor set grants Strenght II when damaged (the duration of the effect depends on the damage). Platinum typically generates in the deepslate layers in small amounts, but if you're in need of bigger quantities of platinum, you can always find more in the Badlands biome.
Late-Game:
- Cassiterite (Tin Upgrade): Cassiterite equipment isn't that good either, barely competing with Iron, but its tools have a chance (between 3%-60% depending on the block) to duplicate drops while mining, and it's weapons are guaranteed to inflict Poison on hit. Cassiterite armor provides +4 Armor points and immunity to Poison and Hunger. Cassiterite tends to generate closer to the Nether's Roof in most biomes, but will generate almost anywhere in both Nether Forests (Warped Forest and Crimson Forest)
- Steel (Iron Upgrade): An alloy made from Iron, Blaze Powder and Coal. Steel tools are capable of breaking a 3x3 area (this also applies to the right-click use of the tool, like tilling, wood stripping, etc.). Additionally, a Heavy Anvil can be made by combining steel and an anvil on a smithing table. The heavy anvil has infinite durability, linear xp increase instead of exponential and have no XP Limit
- Tungsten (Gold Upgrade): A very versatile ore when it comes to Upgrades. Tungsten tools have an 85% chance to avoid durability damage, and it's weapons will cause mobs to drop 8 extra experience points. Tungsten Armor grants Fire Resistance and +40% resistance to damage that bypasses the armor. Tungsten can additionally be used to upgrade all items with durabilitythrough Reinforcing, and all items with attributes through Coating. Tungsten is most typically found below y32, but can also be found exposed in places much higher than that. Once again, if you're searching for more Tungsten, you can always find more in any biome that spawns Fossils (in the nether)
- Moonstone (Platinum Upgrade): Moonstone equipment is easily the strongest set obtainable from this mod at this point of the game. Moonstone tools give X4 experience while mining. It's weapons inflict Purification II and Weakness II to any Hostile mob. Moonstone armor grants Strenght II when damaged, with the duration of the effect depending on the damage, and also grants Quickness (higher Attack Speed). Moonstone generates in the Basalt Deltas.
End-Game:
- Aethersteel: The last ore that Orevolution offers. Aethersteel grants every single effect that Netherite grants, with the small addition of coming back to your inventory after death. also it looks cool.
(Forgot to remove the steel bars from the aethersteel image, but idc im not fixing it)
New progression and Unique effects (Powers):
Orevolution's materials are split into two main stages. Tin, Bronze, and Platinum are early-game materials, while Cassiterite, Steel, Tungsten and Moonstone belong to the post-Nether (late-game) stage of the game, and Aethersteel belongs to the end-game.
Green means completely optional. Red means upgrade from a previous tier. Purple means end-game
Along with this change, instead of every tier simply increasing damage and durability, each material specializes in something different. Some excel at exploration, others at farming, combat, mining or resource gathering. Vanilla materials also receive unique abilities, giving you a reason to keep using them beyond their raw stats.
To list a few examples:
- Diamond armor-set decreases 'kinetic' damage (Falling, Explosions, etc.)
- Iron tools get faster the more damaged they are
- Netherite tools have auto-smelt.
Equipment Upgrades:
Smithing templates allow you to upgrade or downgrade equipment between supported tiers. This makes it easier to keep using your favorite equipment without having to craft an entirely new set every time you progress.
Tungsten Reinforced items gain increased durability and Fire Resistance. Tungsten Coated Items gain increased attributes and (depending on the item) some extra benefits.
Basic Smithing Templates are used to upgrade an item with a stronger compatible ingredient. These upgrades can be reversed with Downgrade Smithing Templates
Harvest warnings:
A warning will display in your screen if the current block can't be harvested. Also, ores won't be broken if you're mining them with the wrong tool. Additionally, if the block can't be broken with the type of tool you're holding, then it'll warn you about it, usually telling you the correct tool type required
Plant ores:
These are the farming counterpart to traditional mining progression, mainly for a more cozy experience
- Livingstone:
- Verdite:
Livingstone and Verdite are the farming counterparts to Tin and Platinum. They let players progress through equipment without relying entirely on mining.
Livingstone drops when you harvest a crop planted on farmland that has stone directly underneath, meanwhile Verdite is obtained through composting.
Both share a specific ability: they're capable of repairing themselves while receiving daylight
