“There I was, I'm sure you know the situation: We were roleplaying a job interview, and five minutes had passed since the last message. Is he typing? Should I type? What do I do???”

But it doesn't have to be this way, in Valkia. The agony of countless roleplayers can come to an end!

The Kirjuri mod, developed by the Valkia development team, sends information to the server about whether you’re typing at that very moment or not. With this, the server can display animated dots above your character, letting others know you’re writing something wonderful.

The Kirjuri mod never transmits the text you’re typing under any circumstances. The technology is based solely on monitoring activity on the user’s client. If you have the text box open and have been typing within a certain time window, the mod, and consequently the server, interprets this as you being in the middle of typing. The server sends the mod a packet containing the relevant chat channels, and based on this, the mod can determine whether text beginning with the /-command is intended for others to admire, or whether the animated dots should remain hidden.

Mutta näin ei tarvitse olla, ei Valkiassa. Lukemattomien roolipelaajien kärsimys voi loppua!

Valkian kehitystiimin kehittämä Kirjuri-modi välittää palvelimelle tietoa siitä kirjoitatko juuri sillä hetkellä vai et. Tämän avulla palvelin osaa näyttää liikkuvia pisteitä hahmosi yläpuolella ja muut tietävät sinun kirjoittavan jotakin kaunista.

Kirjuri ei välitä kirjoittamaasi tekstiä missään tilanteessa, vaan tekniikka pohjautuu vain käyttäjän clientillä tapahtuvaan tarkasteluun. Jos sinulla on kirjoituskenttä auki ja olet kirjoittanut tietyn aikaikkunan sisällä, modi, ja sitä myötä palvelin tulkitsee sinun kirjoittavan. Palvelin lähettää modille paketin käytössä olevista roolipelikanavista ja modi osaa tämän pohjalta tulkita onko /-komennolla alkava teksti menossa muiden ihailtavaksi, vai pitäisikö pisteiden pysyä piilossa.
