Using freelook while flying
An example of using freelook while flying with an elytra. You can pitch up to slow your descent, and then use freelook to survey the landscape. Without freelook, it's challenging to observe things while flying without crashing into them.

An example of using freelook to watch out for threats while mining. Without freelook, you would have to stare at the obsidian while mining it, unable to see your surroundings. Using third-person is entirely optional.
