Deo's Portal Gun Mod

Portal guns for Minecraft, inspired by the portal travel in Rick and Morty. Make portal fluid, build a gun, and shoot portals to anywhere in any dimension, including modded ones. This is the start of a long project, with more fandoms planned.

Features

• Survival friendly and works in multiplayer: craft everything, make the fluid, and earn your upgrades.
• Works with modded dimensions.
• Five portal guns, each with its own feel: Rick's Portal Gun, the Prototype, the D0 Gun, the Rift Rifle and the Spider-Verse Wristband.
• Swap fluids: Rick's gun and the Prototype take any colour of portal fluid and change colour to match.
• Fluids with rules:
  • Blue portals can't leave the dimension you're in.
  • Incomplete fluid burns and withers whoever goes through, and sometimes drops them somewhere nearby instead.
  • The High-Tier Solid-State Energy Core (energy orb) unlocks the advanced controls.
• Upgrades: saved locations, and isomorphic controls, which lock a gun to you. Each gun unlocks them its own way: loading the energy orb, firing enough portals, visiting dimensions, or installing a part.
• Rift Rifle charge shot: hold to charge a giant rift that drags nearby mobs in.
• Recall: press G to open a portal straight back to where you last fired from.
• Link mode: portals stay open for a minute, and each new pair replaces the last. Great for building.
• Terminal: in the gun's screen, type coordinates, check your dimension's ID, or list every dimension.
• Portal Gun Locator: find guns you've dropped, or lost when you died.
• Look at an open portal to see where it leads.
• Self-destruct: throw your gun away to blow up 5 seconds later. Catch it in time to call it off.
• Server config: portal lifetimes, cooldowns, power use, and which features are on.
• Field guide: an in-game Patchouli book on 1.20.1, if Patchouli is installed.

Using a portal gun

1. Make the fluid. Fill a glass vial with redstone. Then craft it (or brew it) into incomplete portal fluid, and add a dye for a colour. Lime makes green, and green is turned into the energy orb.
2. Craft the gun. It comes out empty.
3. Load it. Hold a vial in your other hand and use the gun.
4. Set a destination. Sneak and use to open the gun's screen, or type it into the terminal.
5. Fire. Use the gun to open a portal, and walk through.

Making portal fluid

Crafting:

• Redstone Vial + Slime Ball + Glowstone Dust → Incomplete Portal Fluid
• Incomplete Fluid + Lime Dye + Sugar + Ender Pearl → Green Portal Fluid
• Incomplete Fluid + Blue, Purple, Yellow or Red Dye + Ender Pearl → that colour
• Echo Shard, 2 Amethyst Shards, Green Fluid and a Redstone Block → High-Tier Solid-State Energy Core

Brewing (vials go in the bottle slots):

• Redstone Vial + Dragon's Breath → Incomplete Portal Fluid
• Incomplete Fluid + a dye → that colour (lime makes green)
• Green Fluid + Echo Shard → Energy Core

Addons

Community guns (CF's, Donut's, Blue's Sonic, CreNight's and Light's Remote) live in Deo's Portal Gun Addons, where anyone can submit their own gun without writing any code. The addon mod is Fabric 1.20.1 for now.
