DamagePhysics

DamagePhysics is a client-side mod for Minecraft (NeoForge 1.21.1) that displays floating damage and healing numbers with 2D physics simulation.

Since the mod is entirely client-side, it functions in single-player worlds and on multiplayer servers without requiring the mod to be installed on the server.

Features

2D Physics Simulation

• Numbers are projected from entity positions onto the screen and simulated with gravity, air resistance, and initial upward impulses.
• Damage numbers possess mass and dynamic velocity decay.

Text Collisions

• Active damage numbers on the screen detect collisions with one another and gently push apart to prevent unreadable stacking during rapid attacks.

Hit Types & Visual Effects

• Normal Hits: Standard numbers with customizable color.
• Critical Hits: Larger font size, increased upward velocity, and screen-space spark particles.
• Healing: Displays health gains prefixed with a + symbol in a configurable color.
• Damage Scaling: Text scale adjusts dynamically depending on the amount of damage dealt relative to a configurable reference value.

Configuration

The mod includes an in-game configuration screen accessible via the Mod List

Available Settings:

• Physics Parameters: Adjust gravity, air drag, spawn impulse, and critical hit velocity multipliers.
• Performance & Lifetime: Configure lifetime ticks (duration before fading) and the maximum concurrent number limit.
• Toggles: Enable or disable number collisions, critical hit spark particles, and healing numbers.
• Scaling: Set minimum and maximum font scale bounds, as well as the reference damage threshold.
• Color Customization: Built-in RGB sliders with a real-time preview box for Normal, Critical, and Healing text colors.
