Wrong Yellow v1.0.0-rc3 — The Missing Walls Update
RC3 is the largest Wrong Yellow update so far.
The Yellow layer now contains larger architectural anomalies, new survival systems, rebuilt pacing, and two threats that make walls — and other players — less reliable.
Major additions
C-wall
Added a new wall-shaped hostile.
The C-wall can pursue nearby players through the Yellow layer. If it reaches its target, it closes around the player and turns the surrounding space into another room.
Player-copying hostile
The existing hostile can now copy the appearance of another player, including:
- player skin;
- equipped armor;
- held item.
Combined with hidden nametags, this creates new multiplayer uncertainty.
Gigastructures
Added a new runtime structure system based on large world cells.
The Yellow can now contain structures far larger than ordinary rooms, while keeping their placement controlled by the datapack.
Splits
Added giant fractures cutting vertically through multiple floors of the Yellow layer.
These reveal the internal structure of the dimension and create places too large to behave like rooms.
New rooms
Added new regular structures and new large structures to increase architectural variety.
Survival changes
- Backrooms brown mushrooms are now edible.
- Loot distribution has been rebalanced.
- Survival exploration should provide a more consistent progression.
Atmosphere and pacing
- Rebuilt the tension and danger pacing system.
- Danger now increases through the higher floors.
- Ceiling blinks are now selected dynamically instead of using predetermined locations.
- Added controlled blink events on player arrival and death.
Roof escape
Rebuilt the final roof escape transition.
The new sequence uses a low-gravity jump and gives the destination time to load before returning the player to the Overworld, reducing server flying errors.
Technical changes
- Major internal code refactor.
- Removed and consolidated legacy systems.
- Reduced unnecessary repeated execution.
- Profiled and optimized the datapack using Spark.
- Improved scalability for larger structures and dynamic events.
Compatibility
- Minecraft Java 1.21.11
- Vanilla-compatible datapack
- Tested primarily on Paper 1.21.11
- No mods required
- No resource pack required

Release candidate notice
RC3 is still a release candidate.
Always back up your world before installing or updating. Performance and multiplayer behavior may vary depending on hardware, hosting and server configuration.
Support
Wrong Yellow remains free.
Supporting the project helps fund testing, bug fixing, future layers and the time required to keep building strange vanilla systems.
