Partner Tinkatink Line Changes

release22 ноября 2025 г.
  • Changed the Partner Tinkatink line Hidden Abilities from Huge Power (Tinkatink and Tinkatuff) and Guts (Tinkaton) to Sheer Force.
    • This change was done as the line hits way too hard with Huge Power and Guts, making battles way too easy.
    • Partner Tinkaton can also now learn Ice Spinner by TM, so you no longer have to rely on Ice Hammer for type coverage against Ground-types.

The datapack is NOT dead! As of the time this update is released, I'm just waiting for the Z-A Megas to become available on Mega Showdown before I do the next big update.

More Partner Moves, some fixes, and an extra thing

release12 августа 2025 г.

Strap yourselves in, because there's a bunch of new stuff up for mentioning.

  • Fixed regional forms (for the most part). Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out how to make the regional variants 100% functional without using cheats (the families that have the entire line having regional variants, such as the Alolan Geodude line or the Galarian Ponyta line, cannot evolve into their Partner variants even though their standard variants can).
    • You can still acquire Partner variants of the regional variants of some Pokémon without using cheats, but to get them, you’ll have to get the Partner aspect onto them by evolving them prior to reaching the regional form stage (for example, to get Partner Alolan Marowak, you need to evolve Cubone into its Partner variant first). Additionally, this only works for the Pokémon with regional biases (but you still have to use their non-biased forms, unfortunately).
  • Added Partner moves for the first partner Pokémon from Gens III-VI. Remember, these moves are meant to be busted.
    • Sceptile gets Jungle Clash, which may boost its Sp. Atk and Speed and may lower the target's defensive stats. If used under Grassy Terrain, it also always crits and may cause the target to flinch as well.
    • Blaziken gets Blazing Beatdown, which does more damage the higher the target's HP, and may raise its Attack and may cause the target to flinch or leave them burned.
    • Swampert gets Murkwater Slam, which may lower the target's Defense or Accuracy. It's also super effective on Electric-types and does more damage in a sandstorm.
    • Torterra gets Treebound Shell Slam, which uses either its Attack or Defense for damage calculations (whichever is higher) and may raise those stats as well. It can also harshly drop the target's Defense, but if the move misses, Torterra's taking a little crash damage. All Minecraft-exclusive forms of Torterra can learn and use this move.
    • Infernape gets Infernal Flurry, a multistrike move that hits 4 times guaranteed, and each hit may lower the target's Defense, leave them burned, or cause them to flinch.
    • Empoleon gets Emperor's Tidal Wave, which may raise its defensive stats while potentially lowering the target's defensive stats. It also hit both opponents in Double Battles.
    • Serperior gets Forest Lord's Wrath, which heals it for half the damage dealt, and also uses the lower of the target's defensive stats for damage calculation. It also lowers the user's defensive stats, but whether this always happens or not depends on the user's Ability.
      • Yeah that's right, we ain't about to let you go off with your Contrary shenanigans.
    • Emboar gets Blazing Sumo Smash, which gets stronger the lower the user's HP is, and may raise the user's Attack and Speed.
      • This was initially planned to raise stats depending on HP as well, but it had to be scrapped due to softlocks.
    • Samurott (Unovan, not Hisuian) gets Seamitar Slice, which hits twice and may lower the target's Defense. It also breaks Substitutes immediately on the first strike if the target happened to have one up, even if the Substitute survived the blow normally.
    • Chesnaught gets Thorny Retaliation, which doubles in power if Chesnaught is hit first. It may also raise Chesnaught's Attack and Defense, or potentially harshly lower the target's Defense. In addition, Chesnaught takes less damage from incoming attacks when preparing this move.
    • Delphox gets Oracle Flame, which deals damage, then sets up a Fire-type Future Sight to strike again two turns later. This second instance of damage also harshly drops a random stat on the opponent that gets hit by it.
      • It also lowers the target's Sp. Def and may leave them either burned or confused.
      • The second instance of damage also ignores evasion changes, ignores Abilities, and bypasses Subs, so there's no avoiding it.
    • Greninja gets Aquatic Ninja Arts, a +2 priority multistrike move that hits 3-5 times, can make the target flinch, and may lower the target's defensive stats.
  • Added the Partner move Starlight Wish for Jirachi. This Psychic-type move can hit Dark-types and has a randomized effect that triggers when it is used, and additionally makes Jirachi immune to secondary effects while making a wish, however the move cannot be used twice in a row.
    • With one exception, all of the random effects have the same chance to occur. Potential random effects that can happen include but are not limited to:
      • Raising the stats of the user (and occasionally their allies too).
      • Healing, which can be done with the effects of Wish, a modified variant of Healing Wish, or an immediate heal.
        • This unique variation of Healing Wish forces the user to switch out instead of fainting, but otherwise functions identically to Healing Wish.
      • Restoring PP for all of the user’s moves.
        • Tried to make it so it also affects allies, but it didn’t work. If I can figure this out, I will add it in via update.
      • Inflicting non-volatile or volatile status effects.
        • The Abilities of opposing Pokémon are taken into account, so any Pokémon with an Ability that can turn these statuses into an advantage (such as Guts) will simply have their stats dropped instead.
      • Clearing stat changes, either all positive changes on the opponents, or all negative changes on the user’s side.
      • Applying the Curse effect.
        • This was originally planned to be a side condition dubbed "Morale", which functions similarly to Aurora Veil increasing the defensive stats of the user and allies, but for offense. However, there was difficulty in there, so for now you get to apply a Curse effect instead.
        • You lose 1/16th of your max HP to apply the Curse, as it wouldn't make sense for the Curse message to say the user's HP was cut when it wasn't.
      • Delivering a one-hit KO on the target Pokémon, additionally stealing their boosted stats.
        • Uniquely, this also ignores Abilities, so not even Sturdy and Wonder Guard will save you.
        • This effect is the exception. It has a 1% chance of occurring compared to all the others’ 3%. Additionally, it is the only effect that can cause the move to fail, as the effect uses the standard one-hit KO accuracy formula. Due to the accuracy formula, the chances of pulling a successful one-hit KO from this move is 0.3% at minimum, and 1% at maximum.
  • Added a new Gigantamax form for this update: Gigantamax Jirachi (does not have a model).
    • This special form was originally meant to be exclusive to Partner Jirachi, but as the Gigantamax form breaks without a regular variant, any Jirachi, Partner or not, can use this form.
    • As Gigantamax Jirachi, it gains access to the G-Max Move G-Max Meteor Shower, which applies a modified Doom Desire effect that damages both opponents and strikes after 1 turn instead of 2, in addition to a Wish effect that heals both the user and their allies for half their HP, also after 1 turn like normal Wish. Any status conditions are also cured immediately, though this only affects the user and their allies on the field.

G-Max Move Update/2nd v1.8 Hotfix

release21 июля 2025 г.

Gigantamax Partners can now use their species' G-Max Moves!

Unlike exclusive Z-Moves, G-Max Moves used by Partner Pokémon function identically to how they function as if they were used by their non-Partner variants. This was intentionally done as it's meant to reference how friendship mechanics get temporarily disabled when a Pokémon Dynamax/Gigantamaxes.

v1.8 Hotfix

release17 июля 2025 г.
  • Fixed all the problems related to Mega Showdown's compatibility with this data pack for more recent releases, so now the data pack is fully compatible again. This includes the changes to Mega Evolutions, as the format update also changed how they worked.
  • Added 7 new Partner-exclusive moves, one for each of the Kanto and Johto first partners (except for Charizard, who got two). All of them have a heightened chance of landing a critical hit, and the moves are unlocked immediately when they gain the Partner aspect, or when they evolve into their final forms if their second stage evolution had the Partner aspect already.
    • Venusaur gets Pollen Hurricane, a Grass-type move that may poison or badly poison opposing Pokémon, and is super effective on Fire- and Steel-types. The move also hits both opponents in Double Battles.
    • Charizard gets Blue-Flame Slash, a physical Fire-type move that may lower the target's Defense, may leave them burned, and is super effective on Water- and Rock-types. It also thaws the user out if they're frozen.
    • Charizard also gets Blue-Flame Blast, which is the Special variant of Blue-Flame Slash. It does the exact same thing as the aforementioned move, with the only difference being that this move may lower the target's Special Defense instead of Defense.
    • Blastoise gets Jet Cannon, a special Water-type move that destroys screens, ignores Protect, and is super effective on Grass- and Steel-types.
    • Meganium gets Fragrant Storm, a special Grass-type move that provides the Aromatherapy effect and may harshly lower either the offensive or defensive stats of opposing Pokémon. It also hits both opponents in Double Battles and will still hit opponents hiding behind Substitutes.
    • Typhlosion (Johtonian) gets Explosive Crash, a special Fire-type move that destroys the terrain and may leave opposing Pokémon burned. If used during harsh sunlight, the move always burns and is super effective against Water-types. The move cannot be used twice in a row, however.
    • Feraligatr gets Jaw Roll, a physical Water-type move that traps the target for a few turns, lowers their defensive stats, and may cause them to flinch. It also ignores the target's defensive stat changes.
  • Multi-Role Blast now has a heightened critical hit ratio regardless of variant, and to account for this change, Special Partner Mew's version no longer has its own high crit ratio.
  • Added compatibility for the Cobblemon Text Fix resource pack, so now you can view these moves without having to constantly look it up on this page or the lang file. Only download the additional file I included if you have that resource pack installed and active. I also included how to make the thing work within the folder.

Z-Move Update

release21 июня 2025 г.

This update was a long time coming. From the very first release of this datapack, there's been one major issue that stuck out more than all the others: the fact that Partner Pokémon could not use their species' exclusive Z-Moves. Well, what once was a nightmare can finally be laid to rest, because... Partner Pokémon can finally use their species' exclusive Z-Moves!

  • Added Mimikyu, Rockruff, and Lycanroc. Now you can use their Z-Moves too along with all the others.
  • Partner Mew now has a new signature move called Multi-Role Blast.
    • Multi-Role Blast: A 100 base power, 100% accuracy, Special Psychic-type move that has no secondary effects whatsoever if the move is not used by any variants of Partner Mew. However, if the move is used by any variant of Partner Mew, the move can hit Dark-types, ignores the target's evasion boosts, has a heightened chance for a critical hit, and has varying effects depending on the variant of Partner Mew.
    • If used by the standard variant, the move always scores a critical hit and raises the user's critical hit rate by one stage (only once per switch-in since it's Focus Energy's effect)
    • If used by the Bulky variant, the user recovers HP equal to half of the damage dealt.
    • If used by the Melee variant, the user's Attack is raised by one stage. Additionally, damage is calculated using Mew's Attack stat.
    • If used by the Resilient variant, the user's Defense is raised by one stage. Additionally, damage is calculated using Mew's Defense stat.
    • If used by the Ranged variant, the user's Sp. Atk is raised by one stage.
    • If used by the Resistant variant, the user's Sp. Def is raised by one stage. Additionally, damage is calculated using Mew's Sp. Def stat.
    • If used by the Speedy variant, the user's Defense is raised by one stage. Additionally, damage is calculated using Mew's Speed stat.
    • If used by the Special variant, one of the user's stats (chosen randomly) gets boosted by one stage. Additionally, the user's critical hit rate is boosted by one stage (again, only once per switch-in since it's Focus Energy's effect) and they regain HP equal to half of the damage dealt (essentially this effect combines all of the previous effects into one, since the Special variant is all of the other variants combined into one).

Changes: Most of these exclusive Z-Moves aren't like the ones you're familiar with.

  • All of the exclusive Z-Moves, except for Guardian of Alola and Extreme Evoboost, now have additional effects, including the ones that did not have any previously. The ones that already had additional effects did keep them and were buffed regardless. Partner Pokémon using these Z-Moves additionally have a heightened chance for a critical hit, and ignore the target's type immunity and Ability to guarantee that their one-use-per-battle move can be used without a chance to fail.
    • Sinister Arrow Raid now traps the target on the field, just like Spirit Shackle. It also has a heightened chance to land a critical hit. If Partner Decidueye uses this move, the move will always be a critical hit.
    • Malicious Moonsault now ignores the target's defensive stat boosts, just like Darkest Lariat. It also raises the user's critical hit rate. If Partner Incineroar uses it, the critical hit rate is boosted even more.
    • Oceanic Operetta now cures the user of their non-volatile status conditions. If Partner Primarina uses it, their Trainer's entire party has their non-volatile status conditions cured.
    • Let's Snuggle Forever now reduces the target's stats by 2 stages, and the stats that get lowered change depending on which form Mimikyu is in. In Disguised form, the target's Defense, Sp. Def, and Speed are lowered, but in Busted form, the target's Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed are lowered.
    • Pulverizing Pancake now breaks Reflect, Light Screen, and Aurora Veil. Splintered Stormshards also now breaks through the screens.
    • Soul-Stealing 7-Star Strike now steals the target's stat boosts.
    • Clangorous Soulblaze now ignores the target's stat changes.
    • Searing Sunraze Smash and Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom now raise the user's stats by 1 stage while lowering the target's stats by 1 stage. If Partner Solgaleo, Partner Lunala, or Partner Necrozma (while fused, obviously) use these moves, the stat changes are doubled.
      • Searing Sunraze Smash raises the user's Attack and Defense while lowering the target's Defense and Sp. Atk.
      • Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom raises the user's Sp. Atk and Sp. Def while lowering the target's Sp. Def and Attack.
    • Light That Burns The Sky now raises the user's offensive stats by one stage and the user's defensive stats by two stages. Due to Partner Fused Necrozma being unable to Ultra Burst, the regular variant of Ultra Necrozma has the same effects as the Partner variant. Once this issue is resolved, the move will be fixed.
    • Stoked Sparksurfer now summons Electric Terrain in addition to paralyzing the target. Currently, due to an unknown bug, the Partner aspect has no effect on Alolan Raichu, so until the bug is fixed, regular Alolan Raichu has the extra effects that the Partner aspect would have given the Z-Move.
    • In addition to ignoring type immunities and Abilities, Catastropika now ignores redirection, flinches and paralyzes the target.
    • In addition to ignoring type immunities and Abilities, 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt now ignores redirection.
    • If Partner Mew is using Genesis Supernova, the move has varying effects depends on which variant of Partner Mew is using the move.
      • The standard variant always scores a critical hit.
      • The stat-specific variants (except for the Bulky variant) uses that stat to calculate damage, then boosts it by two stages.
      • The Special variant has all of the effects combined (except the stat boosts are one stage boosts instead of two). Pretty much just Radical Red Genesis Supernova combined with the official Genesis Supernova.

Other changes:

  • Meltan's evolution method has been changed to match Mega Showdown's evolution method for Meltan.
  • Fixed the stats of non-Partner Alolan Raichu (don't know how I possibly missed it since it's been released...).
  • Changed the form names for Partner Mew's variants to shorten them. Also makes it much easier to understand and allows them to use Genesis Supernova.
    • Also changed the form names for Cap Pikachu's Partner variants to make it easier for them to be capable of using 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt.
  • Due to all the new stuff this update has, from this point onward, Mega Showdown is now a required download.

Shoutout to the members of the Mega Showdown Discord for helping me finally get this update out!

Edit: Due to updates of Mega Showdown, this update is not compatible with versions beyond v9.8.0-Beta of Mega Showdown. Not to worry, I am working on a hotfix that corrects this and will allow usage for more recent versions of that mod. Until then, use Mega Showdown v9.8.0-Beta since that is the latest version this update will work with.
