Cumulative Advancement Progress

A Minecraft Java vanilla datapack that lists the per-item progress of vanilla cumulative/collection advancements (such as "Adventuring Time") — so you can see at a glance exactly which biomes, foods, or mobs you still have left.

About "reads old-save progress": a datapack cannot read the per-item progress stored in vanilla advancement files. Kill-based and food-based progress can be reflected from in-game statistics; biomes, breeding, cats, and trims are only recorded after the pack is installed.

Installation

This has two parts — a datapack and a resource pack — both required.

1. Datapack (per world) Put the repo root (the folder containing pack.mcmeta and data/) into:

.minecraft/saves/<your-world>/datapacks/

Then run /reload in game.

2. Resource pack (provides the text, must be enabled) Put the resourcepack/ folder into:

.minecraft/resourcepacks/

Enable it manually under Options → Resource Packs.

The pack still runs without the resource pack, but text will show as raw keys like cumul.item.xxx.

Once installed, run /trigger cumul.all to open the menu, then click any advancement to view its per-item ✔/✘ checklist.

Usage

Type /trigger and press Tab to auto-complete every available progress command. Running one prints that advancement's per-item checklist plus the total X / N in chat.

Building from source

The datapack and resource pack are both generated by generate.py (requires Python 3). To change the covered items or the displayed text, edit the data arrays at the top of the script and re-run:

python generate.py

The script rebuilds data/ and resourcepack/. Do not hand-edit the generated files.

Known limitations

• Progress can only be viewed outside the advancement screen (via chat command); there is no in-screen popup — this is an engine limitation.
• Smithing with Style is implemented by scanning trims on armor in your inventory/on your body, so it means "has owned armor with this trim", which may differ slightly from vanilla's "applied the trim yourself".
• A Balanced Diet is based on the "used item" statistic, which may differ slightly from vanilla's "eaten" check for a few foods.

A planned Fabric mod version will add: backfilling progress from old saves, a vanilla-styled popup GUI, and more languages.
