This pack adds over 150+ QoL improvements and features to the base game, all in a very vanilla friendly and approachable way, to "tune-up" the game through some of the best ways a data pack is able! The goal was to balance and clean up many of the inconsistencies to make the general experience feel more enjoyable and thoughtful. It's heavily focused on preserving core game design philosophy, so nothing added feels overbearing or non-Mincecraft. The entire pack (apart from settings dialog) is also Translation Friendly so you can play it seamlessly in any language
Equipment
- Anvil repair cost caps at 15 levels, so gear can be maintained for a high cost
- Due to increased usage, Anvils last longer on average (40 uses instead of 25)
- Using a Brush on suspicious blocks rewards a bit of experience
- Trident has been revamped in many ways:
- No longer found in Trial Chambers, but can be found in underwater ruins
- Can be repaired with Prismarine Crystals
- Can be shot out of Dispensers
- Hoes can automatically replant crops it harvests
- Harvested crops (even by hand) can have a chance to drop experience, with a higher chance for rarer crops. Fortune increases the chance that experience may drop
Enchantments
- Enchantments can be transmuted into a book from a piece of gear, sacrificing the gear. This reduces the need for mending and repairing and “forever gear”, and allows gold tier’s high enchantability to be useful for making other equipment
- Mending has been nerfed, since it was always too strong but with no alternative
- Protection only protects against damage sources that armor already does, instead of almost everything (including things like drowning, falling, freezing, starving, etc), which effectively creates an exclusive dependency and removes friction and risk from the game
- The Alternative Protections are not exclusive to each other, and provide 4x the protection amount as Protection instead of 2x. Projectile Protection also adds +15% knockback resistance per level
- BoA and Smite are not exclusive to each other, and bonus damage scales at 3x Sharpness
- Impaling functions like Bedrock, dealing more damage to all mobs in water or rain. Its bonus damage scaling is the same as BoA/Smite seen above
- Loyalty returns Tridents from the void and can retrieve items
- Channeling works in the rain
- Fire Aspect can certain light blocks like in Bedrock Edition
- Flame and Punch can be applied to Crossbows to give it a better crowd control niche
- Looting increases equipment and rare drop chances much more than before
- Thorns durability damage penalty has been reduced to 1 to make it more worthwhile
- Frost Walker doesn’t require being on the ground, so it works with jumping and swimming up to the surface. Frosted ice won’t form if it were to cause fall damage
- Curses are more functional, with Curse of Binding dropped items can only be picked up by their owner, and Curse of Vanishing dropped items despawning if half the time. Binding shares vanishing’s list, which also now includes horse and nautilus armor
Consumables
- Consuming an item is interrupted by attacks, including food and potions
- Soup/stews stack to 16,and no longer have eat particles
- Rabbit Stew restores hunger/saturation equal to its ingredients rather than much less
- Mushroom and Rabbit Stew can be made interchangeably with any combo of Red/Brown mushrooms, as well as Crimson and Warped Fungi
- Glistering melons can be eaten for Instant Health, functioning as another golden food
- Golden Carrots restore less hunger, to fall in line with the other golden foods
- Golden Apple Absorption hearts stack like bedrock
- Various Cake changes:
- Crafting recipe uses less milk, more eggs, and now sweet berries
- Cakes can be double-stacked in a single block like slabs, and slices are removed from the top down
- Uneaten cakes will drop themselves when mined
- Cookies and Bread can be crafted shapelessly
Potions, Brewing, and Effects
- Dragons Breath is now a brewing fuel that doubles brewing speed with half the uses
- Regular potions stack to 4
- Turtle Master potions are brewed with Scutes instead of Helmets with weaker effects
- Thick and Mundane potions are among the most useless items in the game, so now they have a use; Thick Potions inflict Blindness and Mundane Inflict Nausea
- The Aforementioned effects also work on mobs; Blindness removes follow range and Nausea causes mobs to sometimes lose track of their target
- Lingering potion effect duration has been doubled, now half instead of a quarter
- Fletchers now can offer more tipped arrow trades earlier on
- Invisibility effect has no particles, allowing you to actually be invisible
- Jump Boost now adds +1 block of jump height per level
- Aquatic mobs that would normally suffocate on land don’t with Water Breathing effect
- Squid ink causes Blindness effect in a small range
- Glow Squid ink causes Glowing effect in a small range
Recipes
Crafting Table
- Some recipes have had their resulting count or ingredient costs changed:
- Wooden Trapdoors give 6 instead of 2
- Carpets and Glass Bottles give 4 instead of 3
- Banners take only 2 wool
- Shulker Boxes and Paper are now shapeless
- Hoppers don't require chests but need 1 more iron ingot
- Hanging Signs can be made with stripped wood or logs
- Many cobblestone only block recipes also use other stones
- Dispenser can be crafted with bow crafting around dropper
- Repeaters and Comparators use stone slabs instead of blocks
- Coal blocks can be crafted with coal/charcoal interchangeably
- Smithing templates can be duped shapeless with 1 diamond instead of 7
- Prismarine brick crafting/stonecutting is consistent with the rest of the blocks
- New recipes have also been added:
- Banner patterns can be duped with 1 diamond and 1 paper
- Pottery sherds can be duped with 1 diamond and 1 brick
- Black dye can be crafted with coal, charcoal, or flint
- Brown dye can be crafted with orange and black dye
- Green dye can be crafted with blue and yellow
- Purple dye can be crafted with chorus fruit
- Concrete, powder, glass, glass pane, and terracotta can be redyed universally with 1 block and 1 dye
- Invisible Glow/Item frames can be crafted with phantom membranes. When they don’t have items, will emit a small particle to let you know they are there
- Different armor types can be smithed into diamond or netherite armor, costing echo shards, to become vanity armor, which will look like the sacrificed armor. Trims carry over, works on Horse and Nautilus armor. Some secret vanity armor exists
Smelting
- Blast Furnace can blast raw ore blocks into regular blocks, which is more efficient and rewarding than by item
- Blast Furnace can make cracked bricks, non-cobbled, and Smooth blocks
- Campfires can create charcoal and dry sponges
- Sea Pickles, Cactus, and Chorus fruit can be used in the Smoker
- Furnaces can smelt concrete into stained glass
- Smelted equipment returns a nugget count equal to ingots required to craft
- Horse and Nautilus armor can be smelted into an ingot
Stonecutting
- Blocks with several variants (stone, deepslate, tuff, blackstone) can be turned into a single block of their type (cobbled if available) for organization and consolidation
- Sandstone and Red Sandstone can be turned back into their respective sand, making sandstone a form of compacted sand
- Certain wooden blocks can be made from planks
- Logs/wood/stem/hyphea can be stripped, and can all be turned directly into chests
- Stonecutter can make mud bricks
Entities
Mobs
- Some hostile mobs will now automatically mount mobs they are usually found riding:
- Skeletons and their variants will auto mount nearby spiders and skeleton horses that aren’t equipped with saddles
- Adult zombies will auto mount nearby Zombie Horses that aren’t equipped saddles
- Baby Zombies will auto mount many nearby mobs like Bedrock Edition
- Pillagers, Evokers, and Vindicators auto-mount nearby Ravagers
- Loot tables have seen some adjustments:
- Shulkers guarantee drop 1 shulker shell, each Looting level adds ⅓ chance for a second to drop
- Evokers require to be killed by a player to drop a totem
- Zombie Villagers iron ingot drop has been replaced with emerald
- Pigs drop 2-4 pork chops on death
- Pillagers drop arrows
- Illusioner added, which drop emeralds like evokers and arrows like pillagers
- Many mobs have also seen spawning and behavior changes:
- Endermen dismount vehicles when angry
- Rabbits breeding cooldown is half of normal mobs
- Sniffer has 30 health
- Ravager and Arthropod fall damage is half
- Slime and magma cube don't take fall damage
- Bees are half the size
- Llamas/Trader Llamas always have the max of 15 chest slots available
- Spiders spawn with weaving effect
- Breezes spawn with Wind Charged effect
- Leader Zombies are physically larger than regular zombies
- Skeleton Horses are tame by default
- Blazes and Magma cubes ignite on melee
- Bogged without mushrooms commonly replace skeletons in jungle biomes
- Cave spiders will replace spiders in dripstone and lush caves, but are also less common, like in sulfur caves
- Happy Ghast flies with passengers 50% faster. Speed potions increase its flying speed
- Blocks can be placed from the top of stationary happy ghasts
- Chickens can be sheared for feathers with a cooldown
- Cats can be fed tropical and cooked fish
- Villagers have an easier time going in boats, with the same behavior for camels and happy ghasts. They can be dismounted by leashing the vehicle entity
- Frogs eat small sulfur cubes, silverfish, and endermites
- Allays have been revamped:
- Allays given an item while crouching will hold onto its items rather than return them to the player. Will still react to noteblocks
- Allays are able to hold 2 stacks of items instead of just 1
- Allays are now duplicated with echo shards, which also duplicate with them
- Sulfur Cubes can have Redstone Blocks inside, which power nearby redstone components when aligned properly and the sulfur cube is occupying an empty air block
- Sulfur Cubes drop gunpowder when eaten by frogs
- Skeleton horses can now wear armor and burn in daylight, and are tame by default
- Skeleton Traps spawn 4 different skeletons, which all have jack-o-lantern heads and flame bows, and cannot damage either other or their horses
- Protections and Thorns can be applied to Horse armor, Nautilus armor, and Ghast Harness
Non-Mobs
- Thrown ender pearls while riding a mob teleports the mob itself with the player
- Experience orbs are invulnerable, and will not sink in lava. After 30 seconds, they automatically consolidate to reduce lag
- Armor stands spawn with arms by default
- Potions, exp bottles, shulker bullets, ender pearls, and small fireballs can be redirected
Player
Movement and Transportation
- Players can sprint up full blocks
- Player can put themselves into crawling mode by not moving, holding Forward and Backward and tapping Sneak, and exit with Jump
- Players riding a mob can hold the Jump key to use their elytra to make that mob glide, allowing all mobs to fly around like the player. Firework boosting does not work
- Speaking of fireworks, their lifespan is now fixed at 1 second per item flight duration. This makes duration 1 shorter, but duration 3 much longer. They can also carry an item if placed right on top of it
Interactions
- Clocks can be used as stopwatches to measure in-game ticks
- Recovery Compasses can be used to teleport back to the player's spawn point, which takes 5 seconds to activate and has a 5 minute cooldown. Finally an actual use!
- Fire charges can be thrown by the player as small fireballs
- Goat horn buff nearby wolves of the owner who played with strength
- Tamed wolves move the same speed as their owner, even sprinting to keep up if the owner is far away. They also sneak when nearby a sneaking owner
- Named nametags can have their color dyed, which clears when renaming
- Banners can be placed on top of beds as blankets
- Leads can be placed on fences without a mob
- Brush can be used to change a painting variant. Painting variants are retained when broken
- Players can open both doors in a double door arrangement
- Player is able to cycle item in selected hotbar slot with the items within that inventory column by tapping Sprint + Crouch
- Player can sit down by not moving, holding Left and Right and tapping Sneak
- You can pet your wolves and cats
- Seamless nights allow the night to pass over time rather than instant when sleeping. Disabled by default. Sleeping during weather works like normal
- Pitcher plant can consume mobs that fall in and drops loot
- Torchflowers glow for a short time when walked through
- Regular Copper Blocks and waxed with no oxidation work as beacon base blocks, with copper ingots as a payment item
- Lapis blocks can be used like bookshelves as an enchanting power provider, to give it a use when not actively spending it in enchanting
Blocks and World
- Beacons have a larger effect range (16+16pyramid level instead of 10+10pyramid level) that is in a circular shape rather than cuboid
- Dispensers can dispense and receive bucketable fluids with cauldrons
- Beetroots and Wheat have their chance of extra seeds reduced, fixed at 2 without Fortune. Crop yield can now be increased with Fortune
End Dimension
- End ship elytra item frames are replaced with vaults that require shulker shells to open. Now everyone can get them!
- End has less gravity. Brings a unique challenge to DPS
- Getting close to end crystals makes endermen watch the player. Destroying End crystals during the dragon fight angers some endermen.
- Iron bars on end spikes look better
Loot Tables
- Both ancient plants drop themselves only from silktouch, otherwise drop seeds with fortune increases seed amount
- Snow layer to snowball matches bedrock rates
- Uneaten cakes drop as an item when broken. Does not work for cakes with candles
- Copper ores drop 1-4 raw copper instead of 2-5. The original drop rate was set before trial chambers, and often you want to avoid copper ores because of their high volume
- Lapis ores drop 4-5 instead of 4-9, to fall in line with redstone. It hardly has a use so being able to get up to 36 from a single ore using fortune feels insane
- Dirt paths give a speed boost to players to encourage their usage. They drop their block when mined with Silktouch like in Bedrock Edition
- Noteblocks retain their instrument when broken, which works when placed until a new block overwrites it
- Ominous trial vaults have a slightly higher chance of dropping a heavy core
- Jungle leaves drop sapling at normal rate
- The unused element paintings have been added to archaeological digging
- Sniffers can dig up golden dandelions, which are no longer craftable
