# Flint Utilities ### Overview **Flint Utilities** is a lightweight, survival-focused mod designed to give flint a meaningful purpose in the early-game. While its industrial-inspired aesthetic makes it feel right at home alongside mods like _Create_, it is a **completely standalone experience** that functions perfectly on its own. ### Core Features * **The Flint Chunk:** A new, compact item crafted by combining 9 pieces of flint. Its rugged, utilitarian design makes it a staple for any aspiring engineer's inventory. * **Early-Game Resource Path:** Transform your surplus flint into Iron Nuggets through smelting. This provides a strategic alternative for gathering iron, helping you kickstart your progression without needing to rely solely on deep-cave mining. * **Vanilla-Friendly:** The mod is designed to feel like a natural, long-overdue addition to the base game. It respects vanilla progression while offering more agency to the player. ### Why Flint Foundry? In standard survival, flint quickly becomes an overlooked item after crafting your first arrow or flint-and-steel. _Flint Utiities_ changes that dynamic, turning what was once a waste material into a vital resource. It rewards exploration and resource management, ensuring that every flint you mine has a place in your journey. ### Mod Details * **Standalone:** Does not require _Create_ or any other mod to function. * **Lightweight:** Designed to have zero impact on performance, fitting seamlessly into any modpack or vanilla+ experience. * **Balanced:** The smelting process is carefully tuned to provide a helpful early-game boost while keeping iron mining relevant as you progress.
