EarlyRelease
Transform versions 1.8 - 1.12.2 into 1.2.5!
EarlyRelease
EarlyRelease is a simple resource pack that transforms Minecraft versions 1.8 - 1.12.2 into 1.2.5.
This project is based off of Beta Accuracy, but includes all of the changes between Beta 1.7.3 and Release 1.2.5.
Differences from Beta Accuracy
- Grass top texture from 1.0.0
- Leaves have ambient occlusion
- Iron, gold, and diamond blocks have updated textures
- Wool is slightly desaturated
- Chests use their newer model
- Natural block rotation is disabled
- Edition text is removed
Extra setup
On a vanilla client, set the mipmap level to 0.
Extra setup with mods
If you are on 1.8.9, install OverflowAnimations, adjust the settings to use the 1.7 animations, disable tweaks that mimic modern versions (except damage tilt), and set the F3 style to Legacy. I also recommend setting the OptiFine fog start setting to 0.2, as that adds to the visual experience.
On 1.12.2, I recommend using OSECA to get closer to how 1.2.5 looked. Enable the following (and leave everything else disabled):
- Old Reequipping Animations
- 2D Floating Items
- Disable Item Merging
- Fix Light Driven Fog
- No Forge Branding
- Old Cloud Height
- Old Damage Colors
- Old Explosion Particles
- Old Fog
- Old Nether Fog
- No Attack Sounds
- No Unique Mob Steps
Issues with 1.8.9
Because Minecraft changed how it handled models and blockstates in 1.11, some item and block models use their vanilla variants. Backporting these models from 1.12.2 will be done in the future to make the two versions visually consistent.
