Vmse — spatial music that actually sounds like it is there

Most music plugins play a stereo file at you. Vmse places sound sources in the world, either side of the listener, and renders them binaurally — the music turns when you turn your head, and people standing nearby hear it from the right direction without hearing what was meant for someone else.

Built on Simple Voice Chat. Four jars covering Minecraft 1.12.2 through 26.3, each one load-tested on a real server before release.

1.13 – 1.15 are not supported, because Simple Voice Chat has no build for those versions — there is no audio channel to play through.

🔧 Install

1. Install Simple Voice Chat on the server, and on the client for everyone who should hear the music.
2. Drop the matching VMSE-1.2.0-*.jar into plugins/.
3. Restart. Config, language files and folders are created on first run.
4. Put audio in plugins/Vmse/music, then /vmse play <song> or /vmse menu.

Audio decoding is bundled (JLayer / MP3SPI / VorbisSPI). FFmpeg and yt-dlp are optional and only needed for exotic containers and video-site links.

🛡️ Built to be safe to run

• Downloads only allow HTTP/HTTPS and reject private, loopback and link-local hosts — including after redirects.
• ZIP packs are treated as hostile: path traversal, absolute paths and drive letters are rejected, executable signatures are refused, and entry count, size and compression ratio are capped.
• Streamed files live in cache/stream with their lyric beside them, trimmed by age and total size, never mixed into your library.
• Configured folders cannot escape the plugin directory.
• No telemetry, no external calls except the lyric databases you enable.
