NeoTab 1.2.0-Beta.2 — GUI & Scoreboard Polish

NeoTab 1.2.0-Beta.2 continues the new 1.2.0 ingame UI foundation and improves the first beta with better scoreboard controls, cleaner GUI options, improved ActionBar Timer customization and scoreboard performance optimizations.

This is still a beta release, but it is a big step toward making NeoTab more than just a tablist plugin: it is becoming a lightweight ingame UI control panel for Paper servers.

✨ New & Improved

Improved /tab gui

The NeoTab control panel is now more useful while still staying simple.

Open it with:

/tab gui

The GUI is built around three clean categories:

Tab Scoreboard Extras

The Tab menu now includes:

• Name editor
• Style selector
• Color presets
• Custom color input

The GUI uses safe inventory handling, so players cannot take or move GUI items.

📊 Scoreboard improvements

The basic sidebar scoreboard foundation has been improved.

You can now configure and control the scoreboard with commands and the GUI:

/tab sb on /tab sb off /tab sb toggle /tab sb title /tab sb style <off|✨|purple-pulse|gradient-wave|static> /tab sb interval <smooth|balanced|light|custom ticks> /tab sb line <1-15> /tab sb clear <1-15> /tab sb clearall /tab sb save /tab sb load /tab sb delete /tab sb list

Scoreboard title animation

Scoreboard titles can now use NeoTab animation styles:

✨ purple-pulse gradient-wave static

You can also disable the title animation with:

/tab sb style off

Separate scoreboard interval

The scoreboard now has its own update interval, independent from the tab header/footer animation interval.

This helps keep NeoTab lightweight while still allowing smooth tab animations.

⚡ Scoreboard performance optimization

Beta.2 improves how scoreboard values are rendered.

Global values like online players, max players, RAM usage and average ping are no longer recalculated for every player and every scoreboard line.

Instead, NeoTab builds a shared render context per scoreboard update and reuses it across all scoreboard lines.

This should reduce unnecessary work, especially on servers with more players or PlaceholderAPI usage.

🧩 Built-in scoreboard placeholders

NeoTab supports these built-in placeholders inside scoreboard title and lines:

{online} {max} {ping} {avg_ping} {ram_used} {ram_max} {ram_percent} {server_name} {player} {player_name}

PlaceholderAPI is still optional and only used when installed and enabled.

⏱️ ActionBar Timer improvements

The ActionBar Timer is still simple, but now more customizable.

Commands:

/tab timer start /tab timer stop /tab timer pause /tab timer resume /tab timer text <text with {time}>

Duration examples:

30s 5m 10m 1h

The timer is shown above the hotbar using the ActionBar.

Example custom text:

/tab timer text Event starts in {time}

🎨 Color system polish

Beta.2 also improves the color handling used by NeoTab’s UI features.

The Tab GUI can now access the built-in color presets and custom hex color input more directly.

This is a beta release.
