NeoTab 1.3.0 — Stable Compatibility Release

NeoTab 1.3.0 is now stable.

This update focuses on stability, compatibility, and making NeoTab safer to use across modern Paper versions.
The main goal of 1.3.0 is not to overload the plugin with random new features, but to make the current NeoTab feature set more reliable for real servers.

NeoTab now builds against the lowest supported Paper API version instead of a newer Paper API.
That means the plugin is better protected against accidentally using newer Paper-only methods that could break compatibility on older supported servers.

This release turns the 1.3.0 beta builds into a stable update.

✅ Main Focus

Safer Paper compatibility

NeoTab 1.3.0 now compiles against:

Paper API 1.20.6-R0.1-SNAPSHOT

This helps make sure NeoTab does not accidentally depend on newer Paper API features while still supporting modern Paper servers.

In simple words:

• safer compatibility range
• less risk of hidden newer-version API usage
• better protection for servers running older supported Paper versions
• cleaner stable release target

NeoTab 1.3.0 uses:

• Platform: Paper
• Minecraft: 1.20.6+
• Java: 21+
• Build API target: Paper 1.20.6
• Bytecode target: Java 21

This release is intended for modern Paper servers and keeps the plugin lightweight.

Older versions below 1.20.6 are not planned, because NeoTab uses modern Minecraft/Paper text and UI systems.

Open the NeoTab GUI with:

The GUI gives easier access to NeoTab settings without needing to edit every config value manually.

GUI items are protected and cannot be taken or moved.

🚀 Performance

NeoTab keeps performance configurable.

Available performance presets:

• smooth
• balanced
• light
• custom tick values

Tab rendering and scoreboard rendering can use separate update intervals, so server owners can keep animations smooth while reducing unnecessary scoreboard updates.

Performance settings are saved and stay active after restart.

NeoTab includes built-in placeholders for tab, scoreboard, and timer text.

NeoTab can run on its own.

These plugins are not required.
NeoTab will still work without them.

LuckPerms can be used for prefix/suffix support in the tablist.

📦 Updating

Updating from NeoTab 1.2.0 or a 1.3.0 beta build is recommended.

Before updating:

• Stop your server
• Back up your NeoTab config
• Replace the old jar with NeoTab 1.3.0
• Start the server again
• Check the console for warnings

Existing configs should continue to work, but keeping a backup is always recommended when updating plugins.

Next, I want to look into Spigot and Bukkit support.

NeoTab is currently focused on Paper, but future updates may expand support to:
