ChatColor3

ChatColor3 lets your players change the colour and style of their chat. They can pick from all 16 Minecraft colours, any hex colour (over 16 million options), ✨, or gradients, then layer on modifiers like bold, italic, underline, and obfuscated.

This is a community fork of Sulphate's ChatColor2, rebuilt for modern Paper servers. The original has not been updated past 1.20, so this fork brings it up to date for 26+ while keeping everything that made it good.

What it does

• Set a chat colour with a command or through a GUI
• Legacy colour codes, hex (&#RRGGBB), ✨ (&u[...]), and gradient (&g[...]) colours
• Modifiers: bold, italic, underlined, strikethrough, obfuscated
• Named custom colours you can save and reuse (%name)
• Group colours tied to permissions
• MySQL and MariaDB support, so colours carry across your servers
• Set colours from the console, handy for donor rewards
• PlaceholderAPI placeholders
• Fully configurable messages and GUI

Commands

The main command is /chatcolor. A few examples:

• /chatcolor red bold : red and bold
• /chatcolor #FF8800 : a specific hex colour
• /chatcolor &g[red,blue] : a red to blue gradient
• /chatcolor gui : open the colour picker
• /chatcolor clear : remove your colour

Requirements

• Paper 26.2 or newer (works on Paper forks like Purpur)
• Java 21 or newer
• PlaceholderAPI is optional

About the fork

ChatColor2 is GPL-3.0, so this fork keeps the same license and credits the original author. If your server is still on an older version, the original ChatColor2 works there.
