THE SHORT VERSION

This is the update where you can fly the server in VR, where the pack finally stops leaving old mods behind in your folder, and where your settings survive an update for the first time.

It also needs a newer NeoForge than before. If your game refuses to start and mentions 21.1.248, that is what happened — see the bottom of this file.

VIRTUAL REALITY

The whole server is playable in VR now. Not a side mode, not a separate world — the same skies, the same ships, the same people. Put a headset on, reach out, and take the wheel.

Desktop and VR players see each other properly, so nobody has to explain why their friend is standing still with their arms out.

Customizable Player Models came along with it, so you can look like whatever you want while you do it.

FLYING

Sable and Create: Aeronautics both moved up a version. Ships handle better and two crashes are gone, including one that could end a session without saving what you had just built.

Drive-By-Wire lets you steer from the cockpit instead of the deck.

Distant terrain looks considerably better, and sub-levels — other people's ships, mostly — now render much further out than they used to.

Ragdolls, because falling off an airship deserved a better send-off than simply vanishing.

PERFORMANCE

Trains and contraptions got two dedicated optimisation passes and run noticeably smoother in busy areas.

There is a new Mode button in Aero Settings. Set it to Potato and the heaviest client mods switch off, your video settings drop, and the game restarts into something a weaker machine can actually hold sixty frames in. Switch back whenever you like — nothing is deleted, and it needs no download either way.

Four mods moved from their Fabric builds to proper NeoForge ones. Fewer oddities, fewer things running through a compatibility layer.

FIXED

Your keybinds, video settings, chosen shader and Xaero map settings now survive an update. They used to be overwritten every time, and that was our fault.

Mods we remove now actually get removed. Old jars were being left behind in the mods folder, and when one of them clashed with its replacement the game refused to start. If that happened to you, it will not happen again.

Zooming, chat history and connected textures work properly rather than almost-properly.

REMOVED

Simulated Coasters Parachute Grand Teleport Camera Overhaul Zoomify — replaced by Just Zoom, same idea, better behaved

If you had coasters or parachutes placed in the world, those blocks are gone. There was no way to remove the mods and keep them.

ALSO

New Season 2 title screen. Carry On now needs LEFT CTRL and right-click to pick a block up, so sneaking around on a ship no longer grabs the Typewriter you were trying to use. The recipe viewer switch (EMI or JEI, your choice) works properly. The update screens were rebuilt and no longer look like they are from 2011.

IF THE GAME WILL NOT START

Two things to check, in order.

1. "requires neoforge 21.1.248 or above"

   Update NeoForge in your launcher to 21.1.249. Clicking Update Now will not fix this on its own — the updater moves mod files, the loader is installed by your launcher. (From 1.10.8 onward the updater handles this for you on Prism, MultiMC and the Minecraft Launcher.)

2. "... is a Fabric mod and cannot be loaded"

   An old jar was left behind by a previous update. If the game will not start at all it cannot repair itself, so reinstall the pack in your launcher. Once you are on 1.10.7 or newer this stops happening.

Everything else from 1.10.x is carried forward unchanged.
