Survival Tweaks
This datapack adds new mechanics and adjustments to improve gameplay in your single-player or multiplayer Minecraft world.
Survival Tweaks
A quality-of-life datapack for vanilla survival, built for playing with friends without losing the feel of the game. No mods, no plugins — just native Minecraft commands and functions. Every feature switches on or off independently, and any player can do it themselves from an in-game menu, no operator permissions needed. Bilingual (English / Español): each player picks their own language.
✨ Features
| Feature | What it does | |
|---|---|---|
| 🪦 | Graves + compass | Die and everything you had — armor and offhand included — waits in one 3D tombstone where you died, with a glowing sign (your name, the day, the grave number, how many stacks it still holds) and a compass pointing straight to it. One right-click gives every item back to its slot, plus your XP; whatever doesn't fit stays in the grave. 27 styles that follow the biome, the cave, the sea, the Nether and the End. Only you can open your grave, and nothing is ever lost. |
| 📊 | Status HUD | World day and coordinates always visible, plus a live countdown to the next nightfall or dawn. Health, hunger, and saturation are optional — each player chooses. |
| 😴 | Multiplayer sleep | Half the server asleep is enough to skip the night, with a live bossbar showing who's asleep. |
| 📍 | Personal waypoints | Up to 20 per player, each with a type (Home, Mine, Farm, Base, Portal, Village, Dungeon, Treasure, Marker, Other) or your own name from a Book and Quill. A beam of light marks every one from up to 64 blocks away, with its own splash of color per type, and the compass you get is named after it (Waypoint compass #3 · My base). Delete a waypoint and its compass leaves your inventory too. Stepping through a Nether portal auto-saves a waypoint on the side you came from, too. |
| ⚠️ | Durability, hunger & inventory alerts | A one-time warning, no chat spam, before your gear breaks, your hunger runs out, or your inventory fills up. |
| 🔦 | Dynamic lights | A torch, lantern, or glowstone in hand lights up the spot where you're standing as you walk, no placing required. It only lights plain air, so it never touches water. |
| 💡 | Gameplay tips | A random tip in chat every 10 minutes, drawn from a pool of 130+. |
| 📡 | Mob radar | Nearby hostile, passive, and neutral mobs show up as icons on your locator bar — 86 mobs across three ranges (48/32/40 blocks), each category with its own on/off switch alongside the main one. |
| 🧭 | Biome Explorer | A title pops up the first time you set foot in each biome, with a live counter you can check anytime from the menu — plus a full list of what you're still missing. |
| 🏛️ | Structure Explorer | Like the Biome Explorer, but for structures: a title pops up the first time you step inside a village, ancient city, stronghold, mansion, trial chambers... 19 in total, with a live count and a list of what's still missing. |
| 📣 | Share coordinates | One click in the menu sends your position to everyone in chat, each player in their own language, with the Nether ↔ Overworld equivalent already worked out. Click the numbers to copy them. |
| 🔔 | World event alerts | Chat alerts for things worth reacting to: a wandering trader shows up (with coordinates and who it's near), a thunderstorm starts or ends, someone triggers a raid, and a heads-up before phantoms when you haven't slept in 2½ in-game days. |
Every important action has its own sound, so you're never relying on chat alone to know something happened.
⚡ Light on the server
The per-player work (HUD, alerts, sleep bossbar, menu buttons) doesn't all run every tick: it's spread across ticks, and players are staggered so they don't all update at once. The mob radar looks for newly spawned mobs twice a second instead of every tick.
🌍 Compatibility
| Minecraft version | What works |
|---|---|
| 1.21 – 1.21.5 | Everything except Mob radar |
| 1.21.6 – 26.3 | Everything, including Mob radar |
Mob radar is the one feature with a higher floor — it needs vanilla's locator bar, added in the 1.21.6 "Chase the Skies" drop. Below that, every other feature works exactly as described; the radar row simply doesn't show up in the menu.
Biome Explorer counts the biomes that actually exist in your version (63 to 66, depending on it).
📦 Installation
- Put the downloaded
.zip(no need to unzip it) intoworld/datapacks/, or drag it into the world-creation screen. - Run
/reload. - Open the menu anytime with
/trigger cpqol_menu set 1, or tap the button in the welcome message. - For the tombstone model and the radar icons, also install Capupack 1.2.
Updating? Swap the old .zip for the new one while the world is closed, then
open it again.
🎨 Capupack 1.2 — the companion resource pack
Pair this with Capupack, the companion resource pack. It gives the graves their 27 tombstone models (1.21 – 26.3) and swaps the mob radar's default dots for custom icons (1.21.6+). Optional — everything works without it, you'll just see a plain wall block instead of the tombstone and the generic dot instead of the icon.
🪦 Only want the graves?
They also come as their own datapack: ST Graves.
