Spellbook v1.2.0 Release Notes
New Features
Unbreakable Netherite
Netherite armor and tools now take zero durability damage. This is designed for end-game players who want to use their best gear without worrying about mending or repair costs.
- What it affects: All netherite equipment
- Armor: Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots
- Tools: Sword, Pickaxe, Axe, Shovel, Hoe
- Behavior:
- Fresh netherite items will not show a durability bar
- Existing damaged items retain their current damage (not repaired)
- No new durability damage is applied from any source (mob attacks, tool use, etc.)
- Configuration: Edit

Enchantment Changes
Fireball Enchantment
- Hunger drain increased 10x - Casting fireballs now consumes significantly more hunger, making it a more costly ability to use
- Level 1: ~2.5 hunger per cast (was ~0.25)
- Level 2: ~3.75 hunger per cast (was ~0.125)
- Added sword swing animation - Players now see their sword swing when casting fireballs, making the ability feel more responsive
Magic Missile Enchantment - Complete Rework
- Now uses actual Arrow projectiles instead of particle-only damage
- Arrows deal damage naturally through Minecraft's mechanics
- Arrows glow for visibility and cannot be picked up
- Particle trail follows the arrow in flight (indigo dust + sparkles)
- Bow-like charge mechanics - Hold right-click to charge, release to fire
- Minimum charge: 0.25 seconds to fire
- Maximum charge: 1 second for full power
- Damage scales with charge (50-100% of base damage)
- 40% faster than regular arrows - Magic missiles fly faster than bow arrows
- Charging particles - Spiral particles appear while charging
- Color shifts from purple to bright magenta as charge increases
- Particles spiral inward as charge builds
- Sparkles appear when fully charged
- Damage formula: Base 3/4/5 damage (levels 1/2/3), scaled 50-100% by charge = 1.5-3 / 2-4 / 2.5-5 damage
- Cooldown: 1 second between casts
- Hunger cost: Scales with charge (4-6 exhaustion = ~1-1.5 hunger points)
Disabled Enchantments (Untested)
The following enchantments have been disabled by default pending testing:
- Telekinesis - Keep items from mobs you kill
- Replanting - Auto-replant harvested crops
- Executioner - Bonus damage to low-health targets
- Smelting - Auto-smelt mined ores
- Airbag - Fall damage reduction for Elytra users
- Cloaking - Invisibility while sneaking
- Volley - Fire multiple arrows per shot
These can be re-enabled in plugins/Spellbook/config.yml by setting enchants.<enchantname>.enabled: true
Bug Fixes
- Fixed durability bar appearing unexpectedly on brand new netherite items
- Fixed client/server sync issues with durability updates
Maintenance
- Cleaned up compiler warnings for JDK 21 compatibility
- Improved attribute modifier handling in Armor enchantment
