skin overrides

finally, the full release of 2.4.0! as always, you can report issues here.

minecraft version support

• added support for Mounts of Mayhem (1.21.11)
• added support for The Copper Age (1.21.10)
• added support for Chase the Skies (1.21.8)
• dropped support for versions with less functionality (1.15.2–1.19.3)

new features

• the cape library now has your capes by default
  • if you already have a cape library, nothing will happen
  • there will be a way to add these to an existing library in the future!
• skin overrides will also work on mannequins now
  • currently, overrides work for both static and dynamic profiles. this may become a config option in the future
• your online skin will now show to yourself on offline mode servers
  • this also allows you to see any overrides you have (gh#34)
  • this will be more configurable eventually
• (1.21.10+) added some debug screen entries (turn them on in the F3+F6 menu)
• (1.21.11) added skin overrides links in the sodium settings screen

minor changes

• skins are no longer processed (gh#36). this means, for example, if you had a 64x32 skin, it would stay as that original 64x32 image, rather than automatically resizing to 64x64.
  • adding skins from a user no longer processes the saved image
  • setting your skin globally no longer processes it
  • this should improve compatibility with mods that do cursed stuff with skins (like ears)
• library JSON files are now pretty printed when written
• the skin library will now show skins with the cape of the player you're modifying. previously, this would have always been your own cape
• the cape library will now show capes on the skin of the player you're modifying. previously, this would have always been your own skin
• duplicate library entries will no longer be loaded, and instead a warning will be printed to the log
• marked mod as compatible with pre-patch versions (e.g. the 1.21.8 version is marked compatible with 1.21.6 and 1.21.7)
  • this is mainly just so i can get 1.20.x and 1.21.x on the sidebar. i don't recommend using these old versions!
• the game no longer crashes when a library.json references a file that doesn't exist. instead, a warning is printed (gh#37)
• minimum java version is now used (you can use java 17 on 1.20.4 and below)

bug fixes

• fixed adding multiple entries to the library having the wrong texture (gh#26)
• fixed overrides not properly being removed on 1.19.4–1.20.4 (gh#26)
• fixed library entries using textures (not files) not sharing or being changed globally
• fixed the scroll bar on the overrides screen not usable (gh#42)
• fixed identical library entries with different names being merged together
• fixed a crash that could happen when reloading the library screen under certain circumstances (gh#40)
• fixed capes added by name to the library instead using the skin texture on 1.19.4–1.20.2
• fixed users being duplicated on the overrides screen
• fixed a crash when initialising the cape library while offline (gh#50)
• fixed the "failed to reload skin" notification appearing when not in a server
• fixed changing skin globally multiple times showing the wrong skin
• fixed crash when opening the cape library on 1.21.11 (gh#51)
• fixed an issue that broke some mod compatibility in beta 4
