ScytheMod
Scythe Mod adds powerful endgame scythes with unique combat mechanics, active abilities, special right-click skills, HUD timers, custom progression, and dark fantasy-style gameplay for both survival and PvP.
Scythe Mod
Scythe Mod expands Minecraft with a collection of powerful scythes built around completely different ways to play.
The mod started with a simple idea: a new weapon should offer more than another damage number.
Every scythe is its own path. Some are made for aggressive melee combat, some for controlling groups of enemies or destroying their equipment, while others revolve around summons, loot, ranged pursuit, environmental traversal, or even large-scale farming.
Because of that, Scythe Mod is not simply a weapon pack. It is a progression and gameplay mod centered around a growing arsenal of specialized tools.
Seven Scythes, Seven Playstyles
There are currently seven scythes, and each one is designed around its own identity rather than being a recolor of the same weapon.
Bloody Scythe
The Bloody Scythe is built for players who want to stay inside the fight.
Its mechanics reward constant aggression through Bleeding, vampirism, partial defense penetration, enemy displacement, and a high-risk Blood Harvest mechanic.
It becomes most dangerous when the wielder is willing to commit to a fight instead of retreating from it.
Toxic Scythe
The Toxic Scythe attacks something ordinary weapons usually leave untouched: the enemy's ability to keep fighting.
Poison, direct damage and armor degradation allow it to gradually dismantle heavily equipped targets. Its abilities work especially well in prolonged encounters where corrosion has time to turn strong equipment into a liability.
Withering Scythe
The Withering Scythe turns defeated enemies into a resource.
Kills provide souls that can be spent to summon loyal Withering minions. Those minions follow their owner, fight alongside them, recover using the scythe's durability and can be strengthened by the wielder's abilities.
Instead of simply improving one player, the Withering path gradually creates a small army around them.
Golden Scythe
The Golden Scythe is designed around the idea that defeating an enemy is only half of the reward.
Its mechanics manipulate loot, mark valuable targets and allow the wielder to turn dangerous enemies into more profitable kills.
It also embraces Minecraft's relationship with gold: Piglins recognize the wielder as protected by gold while the scythe is held.
Golden is less about winning every fight as quickly as possible and more about choosing which kills are worth the most.
Frozen Scythe
The Frozen Scythe controls space.
It can freeze enemies, restrict movement, turn water into temporary terrain and punish opponents who try to escape from range.
Its Ice Spike provides a ranged threat while Frozen Storm can disrupt an entire group at once.
Even outside combat, its control over cold changes how the player interacts with Powder Snow and water.
Farmer Scythe
Not every scythe was created for killing.
The Farmer Scythe takes the same endgame concept and applies it to agriculture, turning large farms from repetitive manual work into something the player can actively manage with a specialized tool.
It can harvest and immediately replant mature crops, improve yields, till entire patches of soil, hydrate the resulting farmland, collect fields at once and accelerate nearby crop growth.
Unlike the combat scythes, its damage is intentionally based on a Netherite Hoe. The Farmer Scythe is a utility weapon first and a battlefield weapon second.
This gives the mod a progression path for players whose idea of endgame power is not necessarily another way to kill something.
Fire Scythe
The Fire Scythe is built around pursuit and denying recovery.
Its attacks ignite enemies and can inflict Burns, a status effect that prevents healing while active.
While held, the scythe also changes environmental movement by allowing its wielder to walk across lava and ignore damage from Magma Blocks.
Its Hunting Fireball introduces target locking: the wielder can acquire an enemy and launch a homing projectile that continues pursuing its target instead of behaving like a normal straight-line shot.
Its larger Inferno ability turns groups of enemies into a temporary disaster zone, burning them, damaging vulnerable armor and launching affected targets into the air.
Fire is designed for keeping pressure on enemies who would otherwise disengage and recover.
Scythes Are Primary Tools, Not Ability Sticks
Combat scythes are designed to remain useful even when every ability is on cooldown.
They function as complete melee weapons with sweeping combat, enchantments, passive mechanics and their own weapon identities.
Their active abilities add options to normal combat rather than replacing it.
Powerful abilities also come with real costs. Cooldowns and durability consumption prevent them from becoming free attacks that can be repeated without consequence.
A custom HUD keeps important ability cooldowns visible while the player continues fighting.
A Mod Built Around Specialization
Scythe Mod deliberately avoids making one weapon strictly replace everything before it.
Each path is strong in a different situation:
- Bloody thrives on aggressive close-range combat.
- Toxic dismantles armor and punishes long engagements.
- Withering converts kills into an army.
- Golden turns combat into a source of improved loot.
- Frozen controls movement and battlefield space.
- Farmer transforms large-scale agriculture.
- Fire hunts targets and denies healing.
The point is not to find the scythe with the largest number.
The point is to find the one whose mechanics fit what you are trying to do.
And because their roles are different, owning another scythe can still open a new part of the game even after you already have endgame equipment.
Progression Beyond Crafting
Crafting a scythe is not intended to be the end of its progression.
Each element has its own essence, theme and method of obtaining or creating the resources needed for it.
The built-in advancement system tracks far more than simple crafting recipes. Challenges encourage players to actually use the mechanics of their weapons, experiment with abilities and eventually master the entire arsenal.
Scythe Mod also includes A Young Reaper's First Steps, an in-game guidebook covering the different elements, their origins, crafting progression and intended playstyles.
The goal is for the mod to explain itself inside Minecraft instead of requiring players to keep a wiki open beside the game.
More Than Vanilla Effects
Several mechanics required systems that vanilla Minecraft could not provide on its own.
Scythe Mod includes custom effects such as:
- Bleeding, used for persistent defense-ignoring damage;
- Freezing, used for severe movement control;
- Burns, which prevents affected targets from healing;
- Rooted, used to prevent jumping as part of stronger control effects.
These effects are integrated into the weapons that use them rather than existing simply to increase the number of status icons in the game.
The mod also includes custom projectiles, summoned entities, marks, soul storage, target locking, environmental interactions and other systems built specifically around the scythes that need them.
Designed for Survival and Multiplayer
Scythe Mod is intended to work as part of normal survival progression rather than only as a creative-mode weapon showcase.
Its mechanics account for real multiplayer situations as well.
Area abilities distinguish between valid enemies, teammates and owned creatures where appropriate, allowing powerful attacks to remain usable without blindly attacking everything around the player.
The different scythes also create very different PvP situations: armor destruction, healing denial, pursuit, battlefield control, summons and high-risk offensive mechanics all provide tools beyond raw melee damage.
Information When You Need It
The mod provides several levels of information instead of placing every statistic in front of the player at once.
Basic tooltips explain the identity and important mechanics of an item.
Additional controls reveal more detailed descriptions and exact numerical statistics for players who want them.
The built-in guidebook provides the larger progression and gameplay context.
Optional JEI integration helps with recipe discovery.
This allows Scythe Mod to contain fairly complex mechanics without requiring every player to memorize them before using a weapon.
