What's new in version 2.1.0
Anonymous hex code identity
Every player is automatically assigned a unique anonymous identifier at first connection (e.g. #15AACF). This code:
- appears in the player list and above the player's head instead of their Minecraft username;
- shows as a hover tooltip in chat once they have an RP name set;
- works as a target in all vanilla commands (
/kick,/ban,/op,/tp,/give…) with#autocomplete.
RP name input screen
On first connection, a screen prompts the player to choose their RP name. The screen:
- cannot be dismissed with Escape (Escape opens the pause menu, and the screen reappears when the player returns to the game);
- validates the name server-side (non-empty, ≤ 32 characters, unique) and displays errors directly on screen;
- can also be reached at any time via
/rpname <name>to rename.
RP introduction system
By default, other players' RP names are hidden (? is shown). To reveal your identity to a specific player:
/rp present #15AACF
Introductions are persistent and restored automatically after a reconnect.
Nametag visibility
- Behind a wall — a player's nametag disappears entirely if a solid block stands between your camera and them. Creative mode bypasses this check.
- Concealing headgear — a player wearing an item from the
roleplay-chat:conceals_identitytag (helmet slot) appears as?to everyone, even players they've introduced themselves to. Their hex code remains visible for moderators.
Server admins can extend this tag via a datapack:
{
"replace": false,
"values": ["minecraft:leather_helmet", "yourmod:hood"]
}
