Mining Speed Changes

• Reduced wooden tool speed from 1 -> 1.5
• Reduced stone tool speed from 2 -> 3
• Increased copper tool speed from 2 -> 4.5
• Reduced diamond tool speed from 10 -> 9
• Increased netherite tool speed from 15 -> 18
• Reduced efficiency tool speed bonus from 8 -> 6

Tool speed values have been altered as some of them did not make any sense. Others were changed for balancing purposes.

Quartzite and Tool Variants

• Quartz has a 10% chance to drop from granite and diorite
• Quartz can be used to craft quartzite tools
  • Quartzite tools have a tool speed of 6
  • Quartzite tools have the same breaking power as wooden tools
• Replaced nether quartz in most recipes with quartzite
• Quartzite can be used to trim armor pieces
• Golden tools now have the same breaking power as stone tools. (previously copper)
• Reduced gold tool speed from 12 -> 9
• Reduced the stats of golden tools to match copper tools
• Nether alloy tools can now be created via smithing
  • Upgrade a golden pickaxe using a nether alloy ingot and its matching upgrade template
  • Nether alloy tools have a tool speed of 12
• Added 3 new advancements related to these new tool sets

Gathering resources or clearing land in the early game always felt sluggish so a new line of tools has been added to alleviate that. Quartzite tools are an early game harvesting tool set that should help the player easily gather low grade materials. Golden and nether alloy tools also serve that purpose but in a later state of the game. ‏‎

Ore Block Hardness Changes

• Reduced deepslate copper ore block hardness from 8 -> 6
• Reduced deepslate lapis and coal ore block hardness from 10 -> 7.5
• Reduced deepslate iron ore block hardness from 12 -> 8
• Reduced deepslate gold and redstone ore block hardness from 14 -> 10.5
• Reduced deepslate diamond and emerald ore block hardness from 15 -> 12
• Increased diamond and emerald ore block hardness from 7.5 -> 8

Mining large ore veins always felt more tedious than necessary, so all deepslate ores have had their hardness values lowered while still making the mining experience feel tactile.

Miscellaneous Changes

• Modified piglin bartering trades to increase the chance for nether alloy upgrade templates
• Wool now drops string when broken without shears or silk touch
• Tool speed is now displayed in the item tooltip on all tools
• Added advancements related to the fletching table and tipped arrows
• Weapon enchantments can now be applied to pickaxes and shovels through the enchanting table

Bug Fixes

• Fixed advancement recipes for raw ore items being incorrect
• Fixed channeling triggering the "Striking Distance" advancement on lightning rods
• Fixed Well Rested not being applied after a player sleeps
