Note: To streamline the features of this datapack, I’m beginning the process of phasing out the craftable chair item. While the chair item and its functionality will remain supported for now, it can no longer be obtained. Any chair item you still have in your world will continue to work. Support for the chair item will be dropped completely in a later version, after which you will no longer be able to use it. All functionality of the chair item will be moved elsewhere. New:

• A dropped Carpet can now be turned into a chair anywhere, not limited to in stairs.
  • To make a chair that's not in a stair, press Sneak while near a dropped Carpet.
  • As before, the dropped Carpet needs to be dropped by an entity to make it a chair. This prevents the creation of accidental chairs.
  • Dropped Carpets remain unchanged when dropped on a stair. There is no need to press Sneak to create a chair that's on a stair.

Removed:

• All custom crafting recipes for chair items.
• All advancements for discovering the chair item recipes.

Changes:

• Updated to Minecraft 26.2.
• Chairs will now only visually rotate when created from an item with a custom item model using the item_model component. (Functionally they rotate the same as before.)
• Any chair created while not in a stair block can be moved up and down by pressing sneak and interacting with it.

Known issue:

• Chairs created by dropping the chair item are backwards. This will not be fixed since they are being phased out. Workaround: Interacting with a chair item while holding it in your hand will place the chair properly.
