The recipe was changed with the Release 1.3.1 update.
Just take 3 pieces of paper and fashion them however you'd like insane any crafting table to get a book.
Side Note: The game will most likely tell you that the data pack is out of data depending on the version you are choosing to play but it works just fine 1.13-1.20
