Earthly Mobs is a datapack that seeks to bring back some of the lost mob variants that existed in Minecraft Earth, as well as from a few other sources. It currently adds 33 new mobs, several of which have some new properties!

New Mob Variants:

Pigs:

  • Muddy Pig: Sunflower Plains
  • Pale Pig: Snowy Plains and Pale Garden
  • Mottled Pig: All Forests
  • Piebald Pig: All Forests
  • Pink-Footed Pig: All Forests
  • Sooty Pig: Dark Forest
  • Spotted Pig: Swamp and Mangrove Swamp
  • MCD Spotted Pig: Swamp and Mangrove Swamp

Cows:

  • Albino Cow: Default Biomes and Pale Garden
  • Ashen Cow: Default Biomes
  • Cookie Cow: Default Biomes
  • Cream Cow: Default Biomes
  • Dairy Cow: Default Biomes
  • Pinto Cow: Default Biomes
  • Sunset Cow: Warm Biomes
  • Umbra Cow: Cold and Default Biomes

  • Moobloom: Sunflower Plains and Flower Forest
  • Moolip: Cherry Grove and Flower Forest
  • Magma Cow: Basalt Deltas

Chickens:

  • Skewbald Chicken: Default Biomes
  • Stormy Chicken: Default Biomes
  • Cluckshroom: Dark Forest and Mushroom Fields
  • Midnight Chicken: Same as Black Cats
  • MCD Duck: Hatched from Eggs

Wolves:

  • Skeleton Wolf: Desert

Cats:

  • Gray Tabby: Default Cat Spawns
  • MCD Tabby: Default Cat Spawns

Grey Llama Reskin:

Due to the lack of support for custom llama variants, and the similarity between the vanilla grey and white llama textures, the grey llama has been retextured to resemble the Jolly Llama.

Easter Egg Variants:

Some mobs have unique variants that don't spawn in the wild. To access these variants, you need to do something specific while interacting with the mob. Undoing the action that triggered the change will also revert the mob's variant to what it was before.

  • Mars Wolf: Rename a wolf "Mars"
  • Dyed Cat: Rename a cat "Peanut Butter"
  • MCD Piebald Pig: Feed a baby Piebald pig a golden dandelion

Custom Items:

  • Cheese: resembling end stone, this food item is dropped by moon cows. It replenishes the same amount of hunger as steak, albeit with less saturation, providing an alternate source of food in the end.
  • Fancy Feather: dropped by fancy chickens, this special feather exists to remind everyone that yes, they are in fact, better than you. It has no unique functionality from a regular feather.
  • Jolly Carpet: crafted with a green carpet and a sweet berry, this carpet can be used to give your llamas the unique festive carpet design of the original jolly llama. When placed, it reverts to a regular green carpet.
  • Bucket of Mud: crafted with an empty bucket and either 8 dirt or one mud block, the bucket of mud is exactly what you'd expect. It can be placed like a normal mud block, or it can be used on a temperate pig, turning it into a muddy pig. Either way, you get your empty bucket back.
  • Custom Eggs: Every new chicken type has their own egg they can hatch from

Villager Trades:

Some new trades have been added!

  • Wandering Traders now have a chance to sell mud buckets as a common trade
  • Wandering Traders now have a chance to sell jolly carpets as an uncommon trade
  • Wandering Traders now have a chance to sell duck eggs as an uncommon trade
  • Wandering Traders now have a chance to buy fancy feathers for emeralds
  • Master Librarians will now trade a fancy feather and a book and quill for a book with a fancy quill

Datapack Menu:

There's a new menu on the pause screen! Along with some general information about the datapack, if you have cheats enabled, you can change some settings, too!

  • Fluffy Cow Shearing: By smacking an Umbra or Wooly cow with a pair of shears, you can shear them like a sheep. Umbra cows drop black wool, while Wooly cows drop brown. After a few minutes, their wool should grow back.

  • Flower Cow Shearing: By smacking a Moobloom or a Moolip with a pair of shears, you can turn them back into a temperate cow, much like how you can with mooshrooms. When sheared, they leave behind a dandelion or pink tulip, respectively.

  • Responsive Muddy Pigs: Causes the mud on Muddy pigs to interact with their environment. Their mud will dry out in warm biomes. Once dried out, they can be returned to their normal state by having them stand on mud or muddy roots. Standing on these blocks will also prevent them from drying out in the first place. Finally, they can have their mud washed off entirely by going for a swim, reverting them to temperate pigs.

  • Custom Mob Drops: Allows some mob variants to have different drops from their vanilla counterparts. This does not include the custom eggs laid by chickens, but it does include the cluckshroom having a chance to lay a mushroom instead.

    Mobs with unique loot include:

    • Umbra Cow (Black Wool, Leather, and Beef)
    • Wooly Cow (Brown Wool, Leather, and Beef)
    • Magma Cow (Basalt and Steak)
    • Moon Cow (Cheese, Glass Bottles, and Bones)
    • Cluckshroom (Feathers, Chicken, and a single Mushroom)
    • Fancy Chicken (Fancy Feathers and Chicken)
    • Skeleton Wolf (Bones)

Technical Changes:

Most variants work in a way that SHOULD allow them to accept biomes from other mods/datapacks, as far as I can tell. I don't know enough about how different datapacks interact, especially when it comes to loot tables and world generation, to be able to say if some of the behind-the-scenes stuff in this datapack could interfere with others. I tested a couple and it seemed to be safe, but I'm listing the relevant information just in case.

  • Chicken egg laying loot table has been altered to include all new variants. All chicken variants have their own unique eggs.
  • Animals can now spawn on mycelium, basalt, and end stone.
  • Wolves can now spawn on sand.
  • Basalt Deltas world generation has been altered so cows can spawn in groups of 1-2 (...theoretically)
  • Deserts world generation has been altered so wolves can spawn in groups of 1-2
  • End Highlands, End Midlands, and Small End Islands world generation have been altered so cows can spawn in groups of 1-4
  • Mushroom Fields world generation has been altered so chickens can spawn in groups of 4
  • Pale Gardens world generation has been altered so pigs can rarely spawn in groups of 4
  • Snowy Plains world generation has been altered so cows and pigs can spawn in groups of 4
