In the "Eternal Darkness, part 3" update:

Demons:

  • General:

    • Updated textures, animations, and models of most demons.

    • Updated loot tables of most demons.

    • Regular Demons no longer gain buffs during the full moon.

    • Regular and Full Moon Demons no longer weaken during the day.

    • Fixed demons sometimes applying fear on themselves.

    • Demons now only inflict fear on humans and animals.

    • Attacks of most(!) demons are now synchronized with their animations and have different intervals, varying from demon to demon.

    • Added unique death messages for most(!) demons.

    • For technical reasons, demons are now immune to the Strength effect.

      (!) All demons except the Soul Weaver, Necromancer, and Underworld Guardian.

  • Dark Wolf:

    • Damage reduced from 6 to 4.
    • Armor reduced from 2 to 0.
  • Demon King:

    • Health reduced from 1000 to 900.
    • Damage reduced from 36 to 30.
    • Armor reduced from 20 to 16.
    • Knockback resistance increased from 7.5 to 9.
  • Dreamcatcher:

    • Now applies a 6-minute Insomnia effect upon spawning.
    • The demon's presence now adds 5 seconds to the duration of Insomnia effect every second.
    • No longer applies Insomnia with attacks.
    • The demon no longer spawns until a certain day (6 by default, configurable).
    • Damage reduced from 10 to 7.
  • Fallen King:

    • XP now drops upon killing the main demon, not its head.
    • Damage reduced from 9 to 6.
  • Fallen King's Head:

    • Hitbox size increased.
    • Now drops 1 to 2 Dark Essence Particles.
    • Health reduced from 15 to 10.
    • Damage reduced from 3 to 2.
  • Fiend:

    • Health reduced from 50 to 30.
    • Damage reduced from 9 to 5.
    • Armor reduced from 4 to 1.
  • Hanged Man:

    • Movement speed reduced from 0.42 to 0.41.
    • Health reduced from 60 to 40.
    • Damage reduced from 7 to 5.
    • Armor reduced from 4 to 2.
  • Imitator:

    • Health reduced from 60 to 50.
    • Damage reduced from 8 to 6.
    • Armor reduced from 4 to 2.
  • Necromancer:

    • Armor reduced from 5 to 3.
  • Reaper:

    • The demon no longer spawns in the world until a certain day (5 by default, configurable).
    • Health reduced from 90 to 70.
    • Damage reduced from 9 to 6.
    • Armor reduced from 4 to 3.
    • Fear aura range reduced from 9 to 6 blocks.
  • Skeleton King:

    • Health reduced from 600 to 500.
    • Damage reduced from 28 to 25.
  • Soulseeker:

    • Added comments from that appear each time the Soulseeker steals a soul from a player.
    • Reduced hitbox size.
    • Movement speed reduced from 0.60 and 0.62 to 0.55 and 0.57.
    • Health reduced from 70 to 60.
  • Soul Weaver:

    • Now leaps on the target when attacking, like normal spiders.
    • Health reduced from 36 to 30.
    • Damage reduced from 6 to 4.
    • Armor reduced from 3 to 1.
  • Underworld Guardian:

    • Increased the explosion power of the "Ground Shake" ability.
    • The passive ability "Demonic Creature" now also ignites all units within a 4-block radius of the Underworld Guardian.
    • Removed the space check before the boss awakens. The Underworld Guardian now creates a powerful explosion upon spawning.
    • Health reduced from 700 to 600.
    • Damage reduced from 30 to 20.
  • Underworld Horror:

    • Health reduced from 100 to 80.
    • Damage reduced from 13 to 10.
    • Armor reduced from 6 to 4.

The Underworld:

  • Slightly darkened the sky in dimension's biomes.

Items:

  • Updated textures for most items.
  • 1 new item - Apotropaion:
    • Protects the wearer's soul from the Reaper and Dreamcatcher, preventing them from appearing.
    • When the item is triggered, a sound will be played, and a notification will appear in chat indicating that the Apotropaion has repelled one of the demons.
    • Item cooldown: 6 minutes (configurable).
    • Can be crafted at the Cursed Altar; the recipe is described in the Midnight Necronomicon (Other Rituals, page 3).
  • Infernal Core:
    • This item now sets on fire if held in the hand for more than 5 seconds.
    • Incorrect item durability has been fixed, it is now 13 again.
    • Updated description.
  • Soul Cage:
    • The item description now displays the type of souls contained within.
  • Midnight Necronomicon:
    • Added a tool cycle for the recipe pages for the enhancement rituals on the Cursed Altar.

Blocks:

  • Updated textures for most blocks.
  • Cursed Altar:
    • Reworked block mechanics: the GUI is no longer tied to the Cursed Altar and is separate for each player (now functions like a Crafting Table).
    • Removed the soul energy mechanic. The Cursed Altar now requires a fixed number of specific souls for each ritual.
    • Added an "Open Recipes" button. Clicking this button will open the Midnight Necronomicon on the Cursed Altar page if the player has a regular or enchanted Midnight Necronomicon in inventory.
    • Fixed the appearance of invalid ritual recipe messages when there are no items on the altar.
    • Updated GUI.

Armory & Tools:

  • Updated textures for most weapons and tools.
  • Rebalanced all weapons and tools.
  • Weapons and tools cursed with Souls are now called Cursed (e.g., Cursed Demonic Sword).
  • Weapons and tools cursed with Dark Souls are now called Dark (e.g., Dark Demonic Sword).
  • Weapons and tools cursed with a Horrifying Soul are now called Horrifying (e.g., Horrifiying Demonic Sword).
  • Weapons and tools cursed with a Dragon Soul are now called Dragon (e.g., Dragon Demonic Sword).

Advancements:

  • Fixed a bug when the "Dark Rituals" advancement was not awarded when crafting a Horrifying or Dragon Demonic tool.

Configuration:

  • The "Midnight-Madness-Configuration" config file has been renamed to "Midnight-Madness-General".
  • Removed the parameters controlling the soul food value for the Cursed Altar, as the soul energy mechanic has been removed.
  • Removed the parameter controlling the buffing of regular demons during the full moon, as this mechanic has been removed.
  • Added a parameter controlling the cooldown of the Apotropaion's ability (default value is 6 minutes).
  • Added parameters controlling the day on which the Reaper and Dreamcatcher are joining the hunt for your soul.

Other:

  • Improved the interaction between Fear and Fearlessness effects.
  • Fixed a texture mismatch between the Fearflower and its item texture.
  • Fixed some synchronization issues.
  • Added new 's chat messages.
  • Updated the localization files.
  • Other changes and fixes.
