Maintenance & Refinement Update
This release is a comprehensive maintenance and refinement update for Fast & Better Vanilla. The focus of this version is stability, consistency, and usability. Numerous long-standing issues were resolved, default behaviour was standardised, and the overall user experience was cleaned up. No core gameplay mechanics were altered.
General Stability & Maintenance
- Fixed missing shaderpacks in previous releases
- Fixed crash handling; the game now reliably returns to the title screen after crashes
- Reduced startup errors and warnings
- Updated all mods to stable releases only
- Removed redundant or unnecessary mods to improve reliability and clarity
Settings & Default Behaviour
- Closed Captions are now disabled by default
- Narrator is now disabled and muted by default
- All keybinds were reset to proper Vanilla defaults
- Default settings were standardised across the modpack
- Removed forced or intrusive default options such as automatic item swapping
- Facing direction is now visible in the F3 debug screen
- Simplified and cleaned up complex settings menus
Known Issue:
- Default settings and configurations are not consistently applied for players joining already existing worlds (
defaultoptionslimitation)
UI & HUD Improvements
- Significant cleanup of HUD and UI elements to reduce visual clutter
- Simplified menus and removed unnecessary visual noise
- Added a new loading animation
- Reworked the main menu layout for better readability
- Added a custom resource pack providing a cleaner background panorama
Resource Packs & Visual Fixes

Removed the forced custom Totem to allow full player customisation

Fixed invalid textures for bows and crossbows

Reworked resource pack structure to:
- Allow multiple optional packs
- Prevent overriding player-added packs (Totem, Hotbar, UI elements)

This update focuses on polishing Fast & Better Vanilla into a more stable, predictable, and clean Vanilla-enhanced experience. Most legacy issues have been resolved, and remaining limitations are clearly documented. The core philosophy remains unchanged: improve Vanilla Minecraft without altering its fundamental gameplay.
