Adds a few visual and sound effects to player deaths for a bit more flair.
el Flair of Death
el Flair of Death adds a few extra effects to player deaths. When a player is killed by another player, flame, skull and blood particles burst around the death location, along with a sound effect.
There is also a kill streak mechanic. After getting a kill, you have a short amount of time to get another one. If you do, the next death gets a different effect with blue soul flames and skulls. The streak expires after some time if you don't get another kill (configurable, one minute by default).
The idea is simply to give killing a player a bit more character and a little more flair.

Datapack installation
Singleplayer
- Download the
.zipfile; - Open your world folder (edit world -> open world folder) and put the
.zipfile into itsdatapacksfolder; - Load the world. (If it is already open, run
/reload)
Server
- Put the
.zipinto thedatapacksfolder inside your world folder (world/datapacksby default); - Run
/reload.
Configuration
The time window for the kill streak can be changed with the following commands (1 minute as an example). The commands require operator permissions, and the new value applies from the next kill.
In seconds:
/function el_flair_of_death:set_seconds {seconds:60}
In ticks (20 ticks = 1 second):
/function el_flair_of_death:set_ticks {ticks:1200}
Setting the value to 0 will disable the streak system.
Uninstallation
Do these steps in this order:
- Run
/function el_flair_of_death:uninstall; - Delete the
.zipfile from thedatapacksfolder.
Notes and troubleshooting
- Effects only play when a player is killed by another player.
- The streak timer only counts down while the player is online.
