Dune Striders 🏜️

A lightweight vanilla+ mod that gives Armadillo Scutes a highly requested secondary use!

The Concept

Armadillo scutes currently only have one use: crafting Wolf Armor. This mod adds a brand new utility armor piece called Dune Striders, crafted directly from Armadillo Scutes.

When equipped, these boots grant the player a slight speed boost (Speed I) only when walking on:

• Sand
• Red Sand
• Suspicious Sand

Why Dune Striders?

It perfectly fits the vanilla aesthetic and the savanna/badlands vibe of the Armadillo. The lightweight, tough composition of the scutes allows players to traverse desert environments rapidly, making exploring and excavating much more engaging!

Features

• New Item: Dune Striders (Armadillo Scute Boots)
• Crafting Recipe: Crafted just like standard boots but using Armadillo Scutes (requires 4 scutes).
• Dynamic Effect: The Speed I buff is applied dynamically and feels vanilla-native, instantly boosting your speed as you stride across the dunes.
• Vanilla Enchantability: Fully compatible with normal boots enchantments at the Enchanting Table and Anvil (Mending, Unbreaking, Feather Falling, Depth Strider, etc.).
• New 'Dune Speed' Enchantment: A brand new custom enchantment specifically for the Dune Striders! It can be found on books or in the Enchanting Table, with a max tier of Level 3. Each level upgrades the dynamic sand speed buff by an extra degree (Dune Speed III grants Speed IV!).

Compatibility

This mod is fully client compatible and also server-side compatible but required on the client for the items to show properly. It requires the Fabric API.
