What does a crab claw do?

The crab claw increases the radius of interaction with blocks by 3 blocks when it is in the mainhand or offhand, i.e.: pressing buttons, levers, opening doors and trapdoors, destroying and placing blocks, etc. But the crab claw does not increase the attack radius.
