Corpse Scavengers
When a player dies, the location is marked with an invisible anchor. Nearby hostile mobs within a 32-block radius will pathfind toward that spot over the next few minutes.
Mob Behavior
Mobs that reach the death location and linger there briefly will consume the lingering essence, gaining:
- Permanent strength boost
- Slightly increased health
These effects stack if multiple players have died nearby, creating dangerous hotspots where mobs become noticeably more formidable.
Details
- Invisible markers are placed as armor stands and despawn after 5 minutes if not consumed
- Scavenger mobs: Zombies, skeletons, spiders
- Non-scavengers: Creepers (ignore death sites)
- Dying repeatedly in the same area makes that zone increasingly hazardous
- Encourages players to either avoid repeat deaths or clear out empowered mobs before they become overwhelming
Technical
- Runs on a simple tick schedule checking for player death events and mob proximity
- Minimal performance impact
- No player commands required—operates entirely automatically
- Works in singleplayer and multiplayer
- Server operators can reload normally
