Combatives Release Changelog
This release introduces tactical leaning as a new core movement feature, expands server-authoritative gameplay configuration, and includes a large compatibility/stability pass across HMG, Flan’s armor, crawling, swimming, aiming, and multiplayer behavior. Production client testing has been completed with the involved compatibility mods, and the release is considered ready for normal use.
New: Tactical Leaning
- Added synchronized left/right tactical leaning.
- Leaning now works consistently across all facing directions.
- First-person camera lean, third-person pose, and gameplay interaction origin all agree on the same lean direction.
- Added wall-clamped lean interaction so the effective viewpoint and interaction origin cannot pass through solid blocks.
- Added smooth leaned movement while walking, sprinting, strafing, turning, and crossing block boundaries.
- Improved the third-person lean stance with connected hip/leg positioning, asymmetric bracing, and more natural torso movement.
- Fixed heading-dependent third-person exaggeration where the pose could appear stronger on certain world axes.
- Leaning remains compatible with normal movement animation instead of replacing it with a rigid full-body rotation.
Aiming & Interaction
- Added an authoritative leaned interaction origin.
- Fixed first-person lean appearing visually reversed.
- Fixed camera and gameplay interaction geometry using mismatched movement timelines.
- Fixed snap-like camera movement while moving between blocks during a lean.
- Preserved cosmetic camera behavior without allowing it to distort the authoritative gameplay point of aim.
- Kept lean collision and wall-clamping behavior consistent between integrated and dedicated server environments.
Crawling & Swimming
- Improved animation ordering and cleanup across crawl, swim, lean, ADS, and standing transitions.
- Fixed stale crawl-related leg transforms persisting after returning to standing.
- Improved repeated crawl/stand transitions so model state no longer accumulates incorrectly.
- Preserved vanilla walking/running animation beneath the additional movement poses.
HMG Compatibility
- Fixed third-person ADS behavior that could prevent HMG guns from firing normally.
- Fixed HMG ADS arm transforms being overwritten by Combatives crawl/swim animation.
- Improved transform ordering so Combatives movement pose, HMG ADS pose, and final armor rendering no longer compete for the same limb state.
- Added optional shared jump-rejection ownership with HMG weight restrictions.
- Combatives can now own the final jump rejection decision while allowing HMG to register its heavy-weight policy without introducing a hard dependency.
- Preserved crawl release/standing-clearance behavior when HMG weight rules also reject a jump.
Flan’s Armor Compatibility
- Fixed Flan’s armor arms not matching Combatives crawl/swim transforms.
- Fixed Flan’s armor arms failing to follow HMG ADS poses.
- Fixed armor leg transforms becoming misaligned after leaving crawl.
- Corrected TurboModel rotation-order differences that became visible during more complex player poses.
- Improved armor rendering so it consumes the final resolved player pose rather than duplicating Combatives/HMG-specific transform logic.
- Preserved armor alignment across standing, leaning, crawling, swimming, and ADS behavior.
Multiplayer & Server Authority
- Gameplay-affecting Combatives settings are now synchronized and enforced by the server.
- Dedicated and integrated servers use the same authoritative lean direction and gameplay geometry.
- Improved ownership and synchronization of movement/pose state between the server, local player, and remote observers.
- Client-only visual preferences remain local where they do not affect gameplay.
- Improved safety around networking and player-state updates.
FairPlay Deprecation
- The separate FairPlay JAR is now deprecated.
- Gameplay-affecting settings are now server-authoritative, removing the main reason for maintaining a separate FairPlay distribution.
- Servers should use the standard Combatives JAR and enforce gameplay settings through server configuration.
Stability & Lifecycle
- Improved cleanup across respawn, teleport, dimension changes, mounts, water, flight, ladders, falling, impacts, and other pose transitions.
- Fixed several model-state capture/restoration issues that could leak transforms into later renders.
- Improved optional compatibility behavior so Combatives continues to function normally when HMG or Flan’s is absent.
Developer Notes
- Unified lean math around a shared player-local basis.
- Separated authoritative tick geometry from interpolated render geometry.
- Improved
ModelBipedpose capture/restoration and compatibility ordering. - Added an initialization-time optional jump-rejection predicate registry for compatibility mods.
- HMG weight-policy integration uses reflection and does not add a hard Combatives dependency on HMG classes.
- Production client testing completed with the involved compatibility mods.
