CobbleSafari 0.3.0
Major features
Rotom Phone
A fully functional Rotom Phone, inspired by the mainline games. You can obtain one by crafting an empty phone and by letting a Rotom from your party move into it (Rotom, on top of spawning in the Safari, can now also spawn near placed Empty Phones !). Phones made using a shiny Rotom will also be shiny, and keep a disctinc look from regular non-shiny rotom-phones (even with skins). If Accesories is installed, a dedicated slot is added to have your rotom-phone fly next to you.
The Rotom-Phone has many apps:
- Messaging App (Quests) : an app where you recieved messages from NPCs that gives you task and reward your efforts by unlocking more features for your phone or by giving you rewards. Tthe quests are used to unlock and explain the mod's mechanics, with multi-step storylines and daily repeatable timed quests. The system is fully datapackable, and can uses item-based gathering requirements, advancement-based requirements and statistics increments-based requirements.
- GTS App : an app that implement a system similar to the mainline game GTS. Each player can deposit a fixed number of pokemon on the database (which can be temporarily increase by using a GTS Ticket), and ask for a specific pokemon in exchange (species, form, gender, level range, shiny status). Player are also able to browse and filter everyone else's offers, and complete trades asynchronously. Also supports unique trades, which are datapack-defined trades that can be added via admin commands, and personal trades, trades only visible to a specific player, used either as quest reward or given via admin commands, to give relevance to the app even in singleplayer.
- Wonder Trade App : an app that implement a system similar to the mainline game, designed with both singleplayer and multiplayer in mind. Up to 3 times a day (or more if you uses a Wonder Trade Ticket), a player can choose to send a party Pokémon into the wonder trade pool and get sent a random one back. Supports a complete range of custom parameters to populate the pool (in order to make legendary/mythicals less common than the "random" command), including support for limited-time events where the pool increase the appearance rate of certains species. Pokémon pulled from the pool roll a random cosmetic form when one exists (patterned Vivillon and Alcremie, lettered Unown, tree-wearing Torterra, Magikarp Jump patterns, dyed Wooloo, and so on).
- Union Room App : an app that let you join an union room, inspired by generation 3/4/5's Union Rooms. From from almost anywhere, create a private lobby or join a friend's with a 4-letter code and get teleported into a private, pocket dimension. Here you're free to battle, trade and spend time as you want. Instances are reusable and come in two sizes: the small Union Room, and the larger Union Plaza with its own player capacity and instance count, chosen at creation. A 60-minute session timer and an exit teleporter put you back exactly where you left off before joining.
- Holo-Skin App : an app that let you change you rotom-phone appearance by applying an holographic skin over it ! Skin change both the phone's GUI and its model, so you can show of your favorite Holo-Skin when equiping the phone ! Some skin even comes with custom wallpaper for the interface. Skins can be unlocked via quest rewards, advancements, or by finding rare items; and the system is datapackable so server owners and modpck creators can add as many skins as they want.
- Safety Settings App : Similar to Scarlet&Violet and Legends Z-A, your Rotom-Phone includes two safety features, toggleable at wish : Roto-Fall, which cushions long falls to avoid fall damage, and Roto-Glide, a second jump that reaches twice the normal jump height but can only be triggered during large jump.
The Rotom-Phone is completely configurable for server owners and modpack makers : Apps can be locked and unlocked per player or disabled alltogether. Unlocking can be toggled through consumable unlock items, quest rewards or admin commands. Quests can be created to fit any server or modpack storyline, with custom objectives and rewards.
Distortion Dungeon Rework
Something dark and old awoke at the edge of the Distortion World: The remnant of the power of the distortion world's owner has gathered into a rotesque shadow that threaten thee tranquility of this place
-Giratina's Shadow : Inside the once-empty Arena, you can now find an Altar. With it, you can summon Giratina's Shadow, and partake in a boss fight ! Bring your most powerfull pokemon to fight the boss, try your best to avoid its attacks, and grab some balm around the arena to try and dissipate this shadow.
-Dimensional Objectives : Each dungeon you visit will have you complete up to 3 different objectives to obtain aditional rewards !
-General balances and changes: New structure segments have been added to the Distortion World, the central structure is now larger and allows every distorted pokemon to spawn naturally (instead of only spawning in the arena), and drops from lost items have been rebalanced, on top of having been made compatible with the Item Donut Powers.
Underground Dungeon Rework
The Underground is undergoing an... underchange?
- Hiker Trades rebalances : all trades have been rebalanced to be more fair, using the power of maths !
-Dimensional Objectives : Each dungeon you visit will have you complete up to 3 different objectives to obtain aditional rewards !
- New Traders NPC : a new kind of Hiker that sell traps have appeard ! Similar to traps from the Underground, thoses can be placed on the ground to trick others players ! But know that once placed, the trap become invisible, so avoid stepping on it yourself... The Hex Manic is known for loving everything occult... and for liking milk. Ansha, on the other hand, love to make donuts, and is selling mystery donuts: you won't know what the donut power are before you remove the wraping ! In the future, more NPCs Types will appear in the underground.
Changes to pokemon spawn in the underground will be added in a future version, after Cobblemon 1.8.x release.
Safari Rework
Something fresh is comming to the Safari, and several biomes have been reworked !
- Dark Biome : On top of having different patches of soul soil dans soul sand, the Dark Biome is now littered with traps all over it. Unless you're holding a trap in your hand, they will be invisible, so be carefull where you step...
- Flying Biome : The flying biome is now populated by Whirlwind, mini tornadoes that send every living entity that touches it flying. This mean you could potentially try flying by yourself !
- Fighting Biome: The fighting biome is now covered in various Gym-related equipement, like a wooden manequin or even a punching bag ! I doubt pokemon will actually use them, but it fits the theme.
- Psychic Biome : The psychic biome now looks a lot like a certain distortion work. This allows you to get two new kind of stone and bricks/stairs/slab variants, along with the distorted flowers from the Distortion world ! -Steel Biome : The stell biome is now littered. yeah, literally : a lot of rusty iron blocks, piles of rust and compacted trash blocks are found all over it's surface. But thankfully, using a blast-furnace, you can turn rusty iron blocks into iron nuggets, and the compacted trash blocks drops nuggets and raw ore, and if you're lucky, it could even drop a Tinkagear, which can be used to replace the diamond in many of the mod's technological crafting recipes.
- Ghost Biome: The ghost biome is covered in tombstones, eeries flowers and flowery bushes, lonely lampposts, eeries threes with very thin logs and potted eeries saplings.
- Ground and Poison Biomes : Both biomes now respectively have Mud Piles and Sludges Piles. Thoses slow you down when you walk in it, and the sludge pile even poison you.
- Fire, Water and Dragon Biomes : Thoses 3 biomes now have new hazard: respectivelu Volcanic Craters, Hot Geysers and Draconic Craters. When something step on thoses, be ready to run, as something might erupt from it !
- Other biomes changes : The Fairy Biome now have cherry tree (for the girlies) and the Ice Biome are now made of snow with ice structures. In every biomes, ores no longer generate, and wild egg nests are now twice as common. That change was made thanks to an angry tiktok comment that said the mod only use was to have an iron famr dimension.
CSBoss Battle System
A custom real-time "dodge fight"-kind of boss battle, completely independent from Cobblemon battles, where the goal is to survive waves of attacks.
- A Boss Anchor block summons the boss above it through a portal sequence, registers every player nearby as a participant, and switches the arena's reactive blocks into battle mode.
- Bosses are defined by datapack: Cobblemon species model, display name, boss bar duration, multiple phases, attack move set, music, rewards, etc. The fight scales with the participants' party levels : a party of 6 level 100 pokemon will be the fastest, wherease only having a single level one pokemon will make it the slowest.
- A large catalogue of typed attack patterns : homing shadows, bullet-hell volleys, meteor showers, ground eruptions, shockwave rings, laser beams, pile barrages, rings, waves, summoned minions, etc. Current move pool includes 30 moves, but the goal is to have between 50 and 70 moves spread across the 18 Pokémon types.
- Arena blocks that react to the fight: a Mimic Block that disguises itself as any block and appears only during battle, a Distortion Door that seals the arena, and a Balm Dispenser that hands out a stack of the new Balm item.
- Balm are an item player can throw at the boss to decrease its health considerably, and make the fight go faster. Sometimes, using them is the only way to defeat the boss in time.
- Arena safety rules: wild spawns are blocked around an active arena, Pokémon can't be sent out inside it, and stray Pokémon are cleared when the fight starts.
For now, the only actual use of the system is in the distortion world, but the system works and can be used by admin and modpack owners. In the future, more dungeon and even boss-rush dungeon will be added to use the feature.
CSMusic System
A custom music system that lets sever admins/modpack makers design audio soundscapes for their world.
- A custom client audio engine running in parralel to vanilla playback, able to seek inside a track , allowing things such as tracks crossfading.
- Tracks are defined by datapack with an intro / loop / outro structure, and can declare a parent track and tags (respectively for crossfade and random selection purposes).
- A unified trigger file describes where and when a track plays: dimension, biome, biome tag, battle, battle type, or even the species and form of the wild Pokémon you're fighting.
- Areas Playback : you can create areas, boxes drawn per dimension and bound to a track, created and edited entirely through commands, allowing you to have town or building music.
- Synchronized parent/child crossfade in both directions: the wild battle theme starts exactly where the overworld theme was, and the overworld theme resumes where the battle theme left it.
- Full boss integration: fight music on start, seamless transition between boss phases, victory outro, hard cut on defeat.
Dimensional Objectives
A system that adds instanced objectives per dungeon instance or per dimension.
- Three tasks are rolled for each player, per dimension and per dungeon instance, from a datapack-defined pool.
- 16 task types covering pokemon catches (per unique, per species or per type), npc-trades, boss fights and dungeon-related tasks like underground digging.
- Each task grants its own reward, and completing all three grants a final reward.
- All of the information is shown inside an animated objectives HUD with open and closed states, freely placeable, with its own toggle keybind and client-side configuration file.
Statistics & Advancements
- 21 custom statistics tracking CobbleSafari's exclusive mechanics : time spent per dimension, safari catches and flee-outs, bait and mud balls thrown, Hoopa portals explored, underground digs, Roto-Glides, trades and Union Room sessions.
- 26 advancements built on top of them, in their own advancement tab.
Minor features
- Online Features PC : If rotom-phones are not your thing, or if you want to be able to access the onlines features from your own pokemon center, you can craft 3 different PC that each act as a way to access such features.
- Traps : Inspired by the sinnoh underground, a new underground NPC will sell thoses to you. Invisible to players unless they sneak, hold a trap or are in creative, they trigger on any living entity walking over them. There's 10 different traps, and they all come with a reinforced, more dangerous variant : darkness, explosion, fart, fire, gravity, move, rock, slow, teleport and wind.
- The Red Chain : After charging your throw by holding right click , it throws a projectile that freezes any living entity it touches for 5 seconds; Pokémon are instead frozen for 15 seconds and become a guaranteed capture. A frozen target can't move, attack, use items or act through Cobblemon. The Red Chain can crafted from 8 red chain fragments and one red chain core, given to only one player when giratina's shadow is defeated.
- Lost Item rework : the block now draws from four separate loot pools (berries, candies, balls, treasures) with a configurable roll count, and supports three loot modes (weighted pools, a single loot table, or a fixed item), all editable through a command-block-style creative GUI with defaults in
misc_config.json. - Auspicious Pokéball blocks : a floating, glowing loot block in a large and a small variant, claimable once per player, with the same creative configuration GUI.
- Two new donut powers :
Big Haulincreases the number of items rolled from Lost Items and Auspicious Pokéballs,Itemincreases the draw weight of a chosen item category. - Surprise Donut : wrapped donut items per rank and flavor that turn into a valid, fully rolled CobbleSafari donut when used.
- Tinkhammer : a new tool with diamond-axe-level durability, repairable at an anvil with Tinkagears, used to configure survival-mode blocks.
- Teleport Pad : flat pads working in pairs, in three modes (top, bottom, front), pairing automatically over up to 100 blocks along a clear path, with links stored relative to the pad's facing so they survive structure rotation. Stand on one and press jump to be teleported to its partner. To configure it, you'll need to craft a Tinkhammer using Tinkagears.
- Sparkling Power 3 : the level 3 variant of each Sparkling power now guarantees at least one shiny of the matching type during its duration, at an unpredictable moment, on top of the existing rate boost.
- Partner Ribbon titles : Pokémon holding Cobblemon's Partner Ribbon now display the canonical "
's <Pokémon>" title, based on the original trainer rather than the current owner. - Added config to allow new dimensions where Hoopa portals can spawn (
allowedDimensions). - Added config to blacklist blocks portals cannot spawn on top of (
bannedBlocks), placement now fails and re-rolls instead. - Added config to change the cooldown between Giratina Core trades.
- Added a
forbidMountingoption to the Dimensional Restrictions util, banning Cobblemon riding per dimension (enabled by default in the Distortion World), with a per-tick safety net that dismounts players who slipped through. - Added an
enabledflag todimensional_objectivesdatapack files, so a definition can be shipped but skipped. - Added
/cobblesafari reset systemand/cobblesafari reset system hardto manually trigger the daily rollover : the default option, the soft reset, only advances objectives, chat quests and reset Wonder Trade tickets, while the hard variant forces a full rollover including timed quest and gts offers and wonder trade pool expiry.
Bug fixes
- Fixed
/cobblesafari reset dungeonsometimes not deleting dungeon structures : deletion now goes through the same asynchronous pipeline as natural portal expiry, with a persisted "scheduled for deletion" list resumed at server startup. - Fixed dungeon slots being freed while their structure was still in place (for example after a crash mid-cleanup), which caused new dungeons to generate on top of old ones.
- Fixed two players entering the same portal within a few ticks each triggering their own slot allocation and structure generation, leaving an orphan dungeon behind.
- Fixed a watchdog-related server crash during dungeon cleanup : chunk loading was blocking the main thread. Cleanup is now genuinely non-blocking, uses an adaptive per-tick budget, and flushes cleaned chunks before releasing the instance.
- Fixed dungeon cleanup to use the structure's real bounding box.
- Fixed a memory leak where every jigsaw structure generated by the server ( villages, trial chambers, anything ) left a permanent entry in the dungeon bounds cache.
- Fixed a Safari economy exploit : when the entry fee was enabled, the daily reset credited free playtime to everyone, letting players enter the Safari without paying through any third-party teleport. Safari time now resets to 0 when the fee is enabled, and the teleporter credits time only after payment, without asking again until the time runs out.
- Fixed players who entered a timed dimension through a path that didn't arm the timer (third-party teleport mods, commands) staying inside indefinitely.
- Fixed player edits to
dimensional_restrictions_config.jsonbeing overwritten at every reload and every launch for some reason. - Fixed Cobblemon tumblestone being placeable in restricted dimensions.
- All texture-less configuration screens now share a single base class, so panel width, titles, field labels and button rows are consistent across all the creative-utilities GUIs.
