The biggest update yet brings fundamental changes, featuring 3D models, entities, shiny items, reworks, redesigns, and much more, with countless hours poured into it for the grand finale of the summer holidays, making this our most spectacular release to date.
Starting with this version, Chroma: Tools & Utilities now uses the Geckolib helper mod to implement the new entities, which means it must be installed as well from now on. However, this should be handled automatically when using the Modrinth Launcher.
With this update, 3D models are finally supported in the mod — a huge leap in quality compared to before. Current 3D models include the two new entities, the new shiny item, and a reworked shiny item.
The biggest highlight of this update is the introduction of pets — powerful companions that stand by your side and assist you in battles against enemies, bringing a range of exciting new mechanics to the game.
The two pets currently available can be crafted early in the game. Once placed in the world, they can be tamed with specific items, allowing them to fight alongside you. If you ever need a break, you can make them sit at any time or pick them up to release them elsewhere. Should they take damage, they can also be healed using certain items.

!Sparky
Zappie is the first of the two new companions and serves as a close-combat fighter, overpowering any early-game enemy with its powerful attacks while charming players with its adorable animations. His favorite food is iron ingots, and he heals with iron nuggets.
Sparky is the second of the new companions, a ranged fighter with incredible reach who can strike any enemy before they even get close. His ranged damage and close-combat knockback are equally impressive, making him a formidable ally. His favorite food is gold ingots, and he heals with gold nuggets.
The Eternal Torch is the newest shiny item, firing a beam of fire at the nearest enemy and dealing exponentially increasing damage the longer it remains locked on that single target. However, beware, if another enemy comes closer, the beam will switch to them, and the damage will reset.
The Woodland Carver has been completely reworked and now features an entirely new function. First, you gather logs and leaves in forests with a simple right-click, collecting them within a large radius. Once you’ve accumulated enough “Chloroflux” energy, you can unleash a massive wave that transforms the surroundings into nature.
The Wind Chime has been slightly improved
Several alpha versions of concept entities previously present in the game have now been completely removed and can no longer be summoned via /summon. Existing entities have also been renamed and now feature proper translations. In addition, the two new pets have been added as full entities.
All mod sounds have also been completely overhauled, now featuring proper names to make them much easier to find. Additionally, two new sounds have been added to the game.
The creative tabs have also been completely reworked, with some tabs removed, reorganized, and added. The details are as follows:
In the mod description (when using mods like ModMenu), links to the Modrinth page and the new bug/feedback tracker are now included.

In this version, an incredible amount has been changed on the technical side. While these improvements aren’t directly visible in-game, the mod’s internal structure has been significantly refined and optimized.
The next updates will definitely be smaller, as this pace unfortunately can’t be maintained. As the grand finale of the summer holidays, I wanted to show just how big an update can get. Planned next are improvements to the existing pets as well as many new ones with fresh mechanics and different uses. More importantly, the mechanics behind shiny items — especially how they are obtained — need a complete overhaul. The new credits screen also has to be fully and correctly implemented. That said, I’m not making any promises; if the past has taught me anything, it’s that I often end up doing something completely different in updates. But probably not this time. The next major update is still far, far away.
