Chest DNA 1.03q
Release date: October 2, 2026
This update improves stack merging, storage transfers and legacy compatibility while preserving item history.
Changes
- Made item equality and hashing consistent when stacks differ only in Chest DNA history.
- Fixed Fabric Transfer API comparisons that could keep identical items in separate storage groups when inserted at different times. This fix is included in the Fabric and Quilt builds.
- Preserved the destination stack's history when merging. Custom names and other item data still affect whether items can stack. Disabling
ignoreOriginForStackingkeeps stacks with different histories separate. - Removed the empty loot-table wrapper on Forge 1.12.2. History is now applied after loot generation, preserving the original table, its pools and additions made by other mods.
- Added a plain tooltip fallback on Forge 1.7.10 when ChromaticTooltips is detected. History appears as normal tooltip lines, and the separate panel is disabled to reduce visual conflicts.
- Corrected Forge 1.7.10 language-file names to
en_US.langandtr_TR.lang, fixing the packaging issue that caused translation keys to appear instead of translated text. - Added Forge builds for the supported modern Minecraft releases. Loot history uses a global loot modifier, with the required data-pack metadata and production mapping files included.
- Compiled Minecraft 26.x Forge builds with Java 21 mod bytecode for compatibility with Forge's bundled Mixin version. Minecraft itself still requires Java 25.

Minecraft 26.1, 26.1.1 and 26.1.2 have separate builds. Fabric and Quilt share the same JAR, identified by fabric-quilt in its filename. The release contains 29 mod JARs. Install only the Chest DNA file matching your Minecraft version and loader.
Fabric and Quilt require Fabric API for the matching Minecraft version. Quilt checks used Quilt Loader 0.30.1. The Minecraft 1.20.1 NeoForge build targets the legacy 47.1.106 loader line. NeoForge builds for 26.1, 26.1.1 and 26.3 use beta loader releases.
Validation
Modern server checks covered torches, coal and arrows with different histories; normal inventory merging; preservation of the destination history; separation of differently named items; and behavior with origin-sensitive stacking enabled. Fabric and Quilt checks covered Transfer API equality, hashing, storage grouping and inventory insertion. Forge and NeoForge checks also covered adding coal to a furnace. The new Forge builds were additionally checked for history stamping on bonus-chest loot.
Forge 1.12.2 checks covered preservation of the original loot table and pools, loot from a pool added later, and both loot-list generation and chest filling. Forge 1.7.10 English and Turkish language files were checked with Minecraft's actual language reader.
Full modpack testing with Tom's Simple Storage, TF2 Stuff Reloaded with Cleanroom and JEI, and the final in-game appearance with ChromaticTooltips remains necessary. The mod list for the reported NeoForge 1.21.1 issue was unavailable, so conflicts specific to that setup could not be reproduced. Client-side visual testing has not been completed across every build.
