Aetheric Roots

Players grow bonsai trees from vanilla Minecraft saplings, which progress through 5 growth stages. Once mature, each tree type unlocks a unique magical behavior fueled by Ether Candles, a craftable resource placed on the bonsai (up to 6 per tree) that amplifies the effect.

Trees and Their Powers

• Oak: Automatically bonemeals nearby crops
• Spruce: Pulls nearby dropped items like a magnet
• Birch: Purifies negative potion effects from nearby players
• Jungle: Spawns spreading thorned vines that damage and slow enemies
• Acacia: Knocks back nearby monsters
• Dark Oak: Grants XP orbs in dark areas
• Cherry: Strikes nearby monsters with lightning
• Mangrove: Slows the growth of other nearby bonsai trees

Mechanics

• Shear pruning: Reverts growth stage and yields leaves/sticks
• Freezing/unfreezing: Preserves bonsai state with ether wax
• Hopper behavior: Candle input from top, resource output from bottom
• Dynamic light: Bonsai emits light based on growth stage and candle count
• Explosion risk: Leaving a bonsai at max growth too long causes it to explode
