FAQ

Will my items disappear when I die?

No. The moment you die, all your items and equipment are safely locked into a gravestone at your death location. Nothing drops on the ground. As long as you find and claim your grave, everything will be perfectly preserved.

Can gravestones spawn in the Nether or End?

Yes. SnapGrave works seamlessly across all three dimensions. Your exact death location is recorded, and the grave info displays which dimension it's in, so you know exactly where to go.

If I die again before claiming my first grave, will both gravestones remain?

Yes. Each death creates an independent gravestone. You can view all your graves through the "My Graves" list with their locations, and claim them one by one.

Can other players open my grave and take my stuff?

No. Each gravestone is bound to its creator. Only you can claim it. Other players cannot interact with your grave even if they're standing right next to it.

My grave is in a dangerous location and I'm afraid to go back. What can I do?

Server admins can enable "Remote Looting," allowing you to retrieve items directly from the graves list without physically traveling back to the death location.

Will my accumulated experience be preserved after death?

Yes. SnapGrave records your XP when you die and returns it when you claim the grave (return percentage is adjustable by admins, default 100%).

How do I know where my grave is? What if I forget where I died?

The chat displays exact coordinates and dimension immediately after death. Additionally, you can open the "My Graves" menu anytime to view all your grave locations—you'll never lose track.

If I have many unclaimed graves, will they fill up and prevent new ones from spawning?

Admins can set a grave limit per player. When approaching the limit, you'll receive an advance warning. If exceeded, the oldest grave is automatically removed to ensure your latest death always has a grave.

What does the gravestone look like? Can I tell which one is mine?

Yes. The gravestone displays your player head and name above it, making it instantly recognizable. You won't confuse whose grave is whose when you return.

How do I open my graves list?

Click the Quick Actions menu in the top-right corner of your screen and select "My Graves." No commands needed—fully GUI-based operation.

Will my graves persist after server restarts?

Yes. Grave data is stored in the server's persistent storage. Restarts or datapack reloads won't affect them until you personally claim them.

Can gravestones spawn in lava or the void?

Yes. Gravestones spawn at the exact death coordinates (including void coordinates). However, for lava or void deaths, we recommend using "Remote Looting" to retrieve items directly from the list, avoiding further danger.

Is there any feedback when claiming a grave? How do I know it worked?

Upon successful claim, the grave plays a soul escape sound and releases particle effects for visual and audio confirmation. Your items and XP appear directly on you—nothing drops on the ground.

Can I delete old graves I don't want anymore?

Yes. In the Graves list, each grave has a delete button next to it. You can remove specific graves individually without affecting others.

Will this datapack interfere with normal PvP or survival gameplay?

No. SnapGrave only intervenes at the moment of death to store items and create the grave. Otherwise, it doesn't interfere with normal gameplay. Graves don't affect terrain or buildings.

What settings can admins adjust?

Admins can configure: XP return percentage (0–100%), grave limit per player, remote looting toggle, remote deletion toggle, and grave glowing effect. All settings take effect immediately without server restart.

With "Remote Looting" enabled, can anyone remotely take others' graves?

No. Remote looting still respects grave ownership. Only the grave owner can operate it—other players cannot remotely access someone else's items.

What is the Glowing feature?

When enabled, all gravestones emit a glowing aura effect, making them easier to spot in dark environments. No need to search with torches.
