So the previous version didn't work, turns out. Some of my logic around tools breaking was wrong, and I thought it worked in testing, but it turns out it didn't. Whoops, silly me.
So here's version 2.0 instead.
Changes:
- Completely rewrote the gear breaking system to actually work. It's not perfect, and it may break other equipped tools/armor with low enough durability when it's not supposed to, but there's nothing I can actually do about that.
- Completely rewrote the gear repairing system to work better; armors now have no model when they break and have their model restored when they're repaired.
- Split the original "set the repair materials" function out from where it was and fixed it up to work better and not squish custom data.
- Broken gear is marked with a unique curse enchantment, and does not have an enchantment glint.
Known issues:
- There is no good way to know what tool specifically broke. So if you break a tool with a delta of -3 (for example, pulling an item with a fishing rod or firing a firework rocket from a crossbow), if you're holding another tool at the same time with at most 3 durability it will also break.
- Technically the same goes for armor, but in the case of armor every piece you're wearing takes the same damage at the same time anyways.
- For some reason the tool breaking script does not work on fishing rods, so named fishing rods will still break when running out of durability. :(
