Track every block you mine in real time using Minecraft's built-in statistics.

Unlike other datapacks that scan the world or detect block breaking events, Block Counter relies entirely on Minecraft's vanilla mining statistics, making it lightweight, reliable, and multiplayer-friendly.

How does it work?

Each supported block has its own vanilla statistic:

minecraft.mined:minecraft:block_name

The datapack creates a scoreboard objective for every supported block and periodically combines them into a single total score.

No world scanning.

No block detection.

No external mods.

Everything is handled using Minecraft's built-in statistics.

Every player's score is saved inside the world and persists after leaving the game.

Performance

The datapack does NOT scan loaded chunks.

Every 10 ticks it simply adds together the vanilla statistics already stored by Minecraft.

This keeps CPU usage extremely low even on multiplayer servers.

Installation

1. Download the datapack.

2. Place it inside:

world/datapacks/

3. Run:

/reload

The scoreboard will activate automatically.

No additional configuration is required.

Notes

Only supported blocks contribute to the total score.

Scores are stored per-player using Minecraft scoreboards and persist between sessions.

The datapack is fully vanilla and works in both singleplayer and multiplayer worlds.
